In all instances where words expressing a property with particularity indicate an object, there is no fault of implying that the subject possessing the property is not expressed, because these words expressing property and subject, apart from appearing to have differences such as sequentially abandoning other distinctions and not abandoning them, there is no difference whatsoever in understanding the meaning expressed by both words, as it arises from the system of Dharmakīrti. This answers by way of there being no difference in understanding the expressed meaning regardless of the manner of expression of the word. Here, we shall examine a little the classification of the two words expressing property and subject. There are two aspects to this: the word expressing property, and the classification of the expression of the subject possessing the property. The first is: generally, all terms are instigated by the listener's desire to know and the speaker's desire to express in accordance with it, and are applied for some purpose. Here too, it is explained in this way. Therein, the time of applying the term, the purpose of applying the term, the object to which the term is applied, and the manner of applying the term, are fourfold. The first is: in a single lump mixed with dung, dirt, and dust, although there are many distinguishing characteristics of differences such as not being a horse and not being a buffalo, when the listener wants to know only that it is a horse and does not want to know not being a buffalo, etc. The second is: for the purpose of knowing such a thing. The third is: on the distinction of merely distinguishing a horse. The fourth is: one applies, saying, 'This lump has the very nature of not being a horse.' At that time, this term is a word that abandons other distinctions, because the lump of cow is not projected as a basis for other distinctions such as not being a buffalo in the listener's mind, but only as a basis for the distinction of distinguishing a horse. The second also has four aspects as before. The first is: on a lump of cow, when there is no desire not to know other distinctions such as not being a buffalo, but there is a desire to know the distinction of distinguishing a horse. The second is as before. The third is: on the mere distinction of a cow without abandoning other distinguishing characteristics. The fourth is: one applies the term, saying, 'The lump has the attribute of not being a horse.' At that time, this term is a word that does not abandon other distinctions, because the lump of cow in the listener's mind is as a characteristic of not being a horse and not being a buffalo, etc.

It is like throwing it out as a basis for all other particularities. Therefore, the first sound makes one understand that the hump of the cow cannot be the basis for other things, and the second sound makes one understand that it can be the basis for other things, but apart from that, there is no difference between the two in understanding the hump of the cow. In this way, abandoning and not abandoning only appear in the realm of consciousness, and do not exist on the thing itself. When the listener has a desire to know, the speaker uses this sign, and the listener also understands it in this way in the realm of consciousness, this way is: other particularities are abandoning and not abandoning, the difference between the signs of these two is the basis for the understander to act according to his own wishes. This is the meaning of what is said in the self-commentary, and other people of the Gangdis mountains do not seem to have noticed this. Similarly, the wise Dharmottara also said that whether a dharma can be related to other dharmas, the difference lies in whether or not to abandon other particularities. And in the Pramāṇavārttika it is also said: Sometimes it is said to have fingers, like different dharmas. Even if the same meaning is said, but because it is to include everything, it will be said to have fingers. It is said to be a possessor of dharma. Although both say the same thing, but because of the difference in the difference of what is said, by distinguishing different kinds, it is argued like different things. The second answer is: In one way of answering, in the expression of poetry, if the truth that has already been expressed in words is expressed in the form of a possessor of dharma, then expressing the dharma in a different way, even if the truth is not expressed in words, there will be no fault, that is, it will not lead to the inability to understand the object and image of the four noble truths. Even if it is expressed in that way, it will only become one of the four noble truths, such as suffering, which is the object and aspect of the path of application. The reason for this is that preventing attachment and so on is the image of a small fire, and what has that image is its object, that is, impermanence and so on based on the truth. It is said that this becomes the object of medium heat, that is, the one that is separated from affirmation and negation, but because this is no different in meaning. It means that because it has been clearly shown that having prevented attachment and so on is the dharma of truth, and attaching to emptiness and preventing.
