Having seen the appearance as the characteristic of self and general, it is the samadhi of obtaining the appearance. It is also the first forbearance of definite understanding of the Dharma. Thus it is said: Then, the Bodhisattva who has become like that, abiding in equanimity, cannot see all things except the expression of the mind. Secondly, the peak is to make the appearance of the Dharma obtained in the heat increase more and more, and to make diligent efforts with the action of non-abiding, that is, the samadhi of the spread of appearance. Thus it is said: For the sake of the increase of the appearance of the Dharma, always make diligent efforts. Here, the commentary emphasizes diligent effort, while the great commentary emphasizes the Bodhisattva with steadfast diligence. The third is forbearance, so by diligent practice, the appearance of the Dharma greatly increases and abides only in the mind, realizing that this appearance as an object is only the appearance of the inner mind. From then on, all the appearances of things are only manifestations of the mind and are not outside the mind. After seeing this, at that time, abandoning the distraction of what is taken, only the distraction of what is taken remains. This is the samadhi of entering one side of suchness because it enters one side of no object and follows after no subject. Thus it is said: After the appearance of the Dharma increases, it will abide only in the mind. From then on, the appearance of things will be completely seen as the mind. At that time, the distraction of this object will be abandoned. From then on, only the distraction of the subject remains. Fourth, the supreme Dharma is that after abandoning the distraction of what is taken, only abiding in the distraction of what is taken, one thinks: If there is no object, then there should be no subject. Thus, one immediately abandons attachment to the distraction of what is taken and touches the immediate samadhi, which is called the immediate samadhi. Why is it called the immediate samadhi? Because immediately after abandoning the distraction of what is taken, one abandons the distraction of what is taken, and immediately after abandoning the distraction of what is taken, one enters the first ground. Thus it is said: At that time, one quickly touches the immediate samadhi. Here

Following that, immediately after, abandon the distraction of clinging. These orders are, like the warmth stage, it is said. As stated in the Ornament of Realization: the first three are the small, medium, and large manifestations of wisdom, and the fourth is the complete manifestation of non-appearance wisdom. Thus, although the first three obtain certainty from meditation on the absence of the apprehended, the distraction of clinging is not pacified due to clinging to mind-only. The fourth does not cling to mind-only, thus obtaining certainty from meditation on the absence of the apprehended. Regarding this meaning, if someone says: It is not so, because it is said that immediately after that, after the highest dharma, abandon the distraction of clinging, therefore it is said, this is not the meaning. In the Great Commentary, the meaning of immediately after that is said to be immediately after abandoning the distraction of the apprehended, and in the Ornament of Realization, it is also said that there is no distraction of clinging in the highest dharma, and in the Compendium, when quoting the sutra: The Bodhisattva in equipoise sees the image of the mind, from that he definitely grasps, thus abiding in the inner mind, he should realize the absence of the apprehended, below that, the absence of the apprehended, from that he should touch the signless. Thus, after the absence of clinging, the path of seeing is taught. Thus, these four are also called the stage of application because of the increased faith in the meaning of selflessness. In the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it is also said: The Bodhisattva abiding in this stage, although an ordinary being, has completely passed beyond all the decline of childhood, and also possesses countless qualities such as samadhi, dharani, liberation, and supernormal cognition. Thus, it is also said to possess many qualities. The second is: if divided by nature, there are four: warmth, peak, forbearance, and supreme mundane dharma. If divided by large and small, there are twelve, because each has three. Also, warmth and peak, and forbearance and the highest dharma, the forbearance of definite belief in the dharma, are also said to be small, medium, and large. In the highest dharma, in the commentaries on the Paramitas, the distinction between large and small is explained. However, in both the upper and lower Abhidharma, it is said to be a single moment, and in the Sutra Ornament, it is also said to be an uninterrupted or immediate samadhi, so it seems to be accepted as a single moment. The third,
