There are, the teachers of the school think so, and the Compendium also says so. All three are phenomena of arising and ceasing, and the self-commentary says: After being born, one is completely liberated from suffering, because after being born, one manifests creation, and without manifesting creation, one is completely liberated from suffering. So it is said. The arising and ceasing of those born in the five Pure Abodes must cultivate alternating meditations. The third is that one does not return because one passes through the realm of form twice in the cycle of rebirth and then attains liberation. In this regard, from the perspective of the cause, it is the cultivation of alternating meditations, and from the perspective of the result, it is the going to Akanistha and the Peak of Existence. The first is that one does not return because one is of the lineage to be born twice in the cycle of rebirth in the realm of form and finally attain liberation in the support of Akanistha. In this regard, there are three: leaping, half-leaping, and dying and transferring in all places, as it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: Those who transfer upwards, they go to Akanistha after cultivating meditation. They leap, half-leap in all places, and die and transfer to other Peaks of Existence. So it is said. Among them, leaping refers to when one has achieved the five alternating meditations, tasted the flavor of the first dhyana, fallen from the latter three dhyanas, been born in the Brahma Assembly, and through the power of previous habituation, cultivated the fourth dhyana, abandoned the intermediate dhyanas, and been born in Akanistha and attained liberation. Half-leaping refers to being born in the Brahma Assembly as before, abandoning the intermediate dhyanas, being born in the Pure Abodes, abandoning some other places, and attaining liberation in Akanistha. Dying and transferring in all places refers to being born in the Brahma Assembly as before, passing through all other places except the Great Brahma, and attaining liberation in Akanistha. Because one has accumulated unique and unsurpassed karma, and because the Great Brahma is a place of wrong views, noble ones are not born in the Great Brahma. This is what the Commentary on the Treasury of Knowledge says. According to the Mahayana view, this reason is not definite, so being born there is not contradictory, because the birth of the fully ripened result of a Bodhisattva who has attained a ground will be explained, so you should know. What is the way to cultivate alternating meditations, which are the cause of being born in these Pure Abodes? There are two marginal examinations of this: the support for cultivation, and the cultivation that relies on the support. The first is that Arhats and Non-returners cultivate after obtaining the mind of the fourth dhyana. So, in what place does one cultivate? The self-commentary says: First, one alternates in the three continents of the desire realm, then

This is the method of transferring those who have completely ceased to the realm of form. The second part has three: the preparation for the transfer, the measure of accomplishment, and the actual transfer. First, it is the continuous fourth dhyana of the uncontaminated, then the continuous contaminated of the same, and then entering the uncontaminated continuous. Similarly, gradually reducing the duration, it becomes two moments of uncontaminated, two moments of contaminated, and then entering the uncontaminated again. Thus, first transferring the fourth dhyana, because it is free from the eight faults, easy to operate, and the samadhi is clear. As the Abhidharmakosha says: "First transfer the fourth dhyana." Second, after the uncontaminated moment of the fourth dhyana, being able to mix it with the contaminated, and after that mixing it with the uncontaminated, is accomplishment. As the Abhidharmakosha says: "Mixing moments is accomplishment." Here, the mixing of moments during the preparation and the main practice is the view of the Sarvastivadins. The Acharya's own view is in the self-commentary: "Except for the Buddha, no one can transfer moments, therefore, it is completed by entering into samadhi at will in the three continuities." It should be understood as such. Thus, first transferring the fourth dhyana, and then transferring with other dhyanas as well. Third, as the result of the transfer, there are five practices of the cause of transfer that can be born in the five Pure Abodes. What are they? From transferring three to transferring fifteen. The practice of transfer is not necessarily limited to these five, because these five are only transferring the fourth dhyana, and it is also said to transfer with the first three dhyanas. What are the ways of these transfers? Small transfer three, as the self-commentary says: "First, manifest three minds: uncontaminated, contaminated, and uncontaminated." Thus. Then there is medium transfer six, large transfer nine, very large transfer twelve, and extremely large transfer fifteen. For these, the commentary only says: "The second is six, the third is nine, the fourth is twelve, the fifth is fifteen." That's all. Regarding the way of transferring six, some say: "Do two uncontaminated, two contaminated, two uncontaminated." Similarly, for transferring nine, do three uncontaminated, and so on. This seems to be a reckless statement unfamiliar with the treatises of the wise.
