If cognition, in dependence on blue, becomes the self-nature of cognition, then self-cognition will become independent, and therefore the apprehending aspect will become valid. If the apprehended aspect is valid, then the object of measurement of the valid cognition and its result will become different entities. If the apprehended aspect, which is considered valid, is the sense consciousness that perceives blue, then what can it measure? It would be said that it measures blue, and if asked what the necessity or result of such measurement is, it would be answered that it is because it has been acknowledged that the sense consciousness that perceives blue is itself, and that it has eliminated superimposition. For example, if asked what an axe cuts, it would be said that it cuts wood, but it would be absurd to say that the result is that the axe itself becomes fragments. Thus it is said. The refutation of this is as follows: The object of knowledge, the sense consciousness that perceives blue, if the cognition of the object of measurement that becomes its own self-nature in dependence on blue is the result, then when blue is made the object of measurement, it is not necessary for the apprehending aspect to become valid. Because it is impossible for the apprehending aspect to appear as an external object, and because blue is the self-nature of the consciousness that perceives blue. At that time, the apprehended aspect should logically become valid. Because the sense consciousness clearly experiences blue, yellow, pleasant, unpleasant, etc., and as experienced, the valid cognition undoubtedly determines these meanings without obstruction, therefore it is reasonable to establish blue, etc., as blue, etc. In summary: Even if blue is the self-nature of the consciousness that perceives blue, the apprehending aspects do not necessarily become the valid cognition that measures it. Because the apprehending aspect cannot face outwards, and because it must be measured by the sense consciousness that perceives blue, which has become the self-nature of blue. And so it is, as the Pramāṇavārttika says, "At that time, the appearance of the object itself is the valid cognition." If blue is the self-nature of consciousness, then it is unreasonable to say "cognizing blue," because there is no external object. If you ask this, the sense consciousness that perceives blue, even if the cognition of the object of measurement that becomes its own self-nature in dependence on blue, there is no contradiction in your establishing "cognizing blue," because you can establish cognizing blue like the straightforward decisive consciousness guided by your own power, and the object of cognition, blue, is your own self-nature. This is the meaning of "although it is self-cognition, it also allows object-cognition." "Although external objects exist" and "Why allow object-cognition?" etc., are all the Sautrāntika's view of external objects.

It is done that way because it is easy to understand blue and other things that are considered as the basis of objects, and because it is easy to combine into verses. It has been said more than once that external objects cannot be the object of direct perception. Knowable phenomena, it should be free from the fault of difference between measure, result, object, and substance, because the sense consciousness that appears blue is valid because it relies on blue, and because the knowledge of blue that has become its own nature is the result. Therefore, there is no fault of difference between object and substance because it is valid for blue and the knowledge of blue is the result. Secondly, if you ask if this contradicts what is said by oneself as the result? When establishing blue as the object to be measured, there is no time when self-awareness is established as the result. Therefore, for external objects to be measured, it is also said: "One's own experience is the reason for the result." The meaning of this sentence is also that the knowable object that establishes self-awareness as the result should also be able to experience becoming one's own nature. This is established in relation to the validity of the mind of self-nature, but it is not showing self-awareness as the result. The measure of establishing blue as the object to be measured is commonly accepted by both Sutra and Mind-Only schools, and even the Sutra school does not accept external objects as the object of direct perception. The establishment of the measure and result of the first fruit consciousness that establishes blue as the object to be measured is the same as the nominal consciousness school, so there the knowledge of blue is considered the result, and here it is said that "one's own experience is the reason for the result" is not considered contradictory. If so, does the first fruit consciousness and the third fruit consciousness become indistinguishable? There is no fault, because in the case of the second fruit consciousness, the apprehended aspect established as the object to be measured is not a different thing from the measure, and also in the case of the first fruit consciousness, the blue established as the object to be measured is also the nature of the measuring measure, so at this time it is established by reasoning. The measure depends on its own object to be measured, and the knowledge like blue that has become its own nature is the result, and it is okay to establish it like this. It cannot be said that self-awareness is the result, so the difference between the result and the necessity of the measure and result are different. The knowable object becomes its own nature, so is blue the nature of knowledge? Or do you think it is a different thing from knowledge? If you observe, it is determined because it relies on the reasoning that distinguishes the ultimate meaning to refute that it is a different thing. Therefore, in blue
