If the nature is true, then since the appearances are admitted to be false, the knowledge becomes non-thing, that is, not true. Because the false appearance is the same as it. If, as before, the mind itself is an illusion, then, if someone asks, according to the reasoning of "the mind itself is an illusion," etc., the illusion, that is, form, etc., although not true, is the object to be viewed, that is, the object of the mind, then, similarly, the six consciousnesses are the viewers, and the six objects are the viewed, even if they are not established as true, it is the same. Therefore, there is no fault in saying "if there is no confusion at all" before. For the two sentences "if," etc., others say: Samsara and other false things are things, that is, they have a truly established basis or foundation, because all confusions have a true basis. For example, just as mistaking a tree stump for a person, there is also a tree stump that is truly established. If samsara depends on a true foundation and does not depend on others, then it will become non-thing like space. That is to say, this dispute is the meaning stated in the Compendium of Trainings, not the meaning of other explanations. The answer to this is the sentences such as "non-thing." Because non-thing, that is, confusion, is also false, and must rely on the true foundation of non-thing, then how can it have the function of bondage, etc.? It will not have. Because the foundation on which it depends is not a truly established thing. This reason is stated in the Compendium of Trainings. According to your view, the mind will become without the help of the two graspers of subject and object, etc., but will be self-knowing, self-illuminating, and unique. Because it is admitted that this appearance, which appears as the object and the object-possessor being far apart, is not established as it appears, there is no external object. And since the appearance of form, etc., is previously prevented from being knowledge, it is not knowledge. If so, since it will become other things unrelated to knowledge, even if the appearance of form, etc., is defiled, the nature of knowledge will not be defiled. If you admit, then when the minds of all sentient beings are free from all the stains of the two graspers of subject and object, then at that time all will become Tathagatas, that is, liberated effortlessly. Even if you admit that, it is merely postulated as mind-only, then what merit is there in determining the view? There is no merit. In order to avoid the Middle Way path having no necessity and ability, the knowledge of realizing emptiness also has no necessity and ability.

Refuting the notion of liberation through merely seeing the truth without seeing emptiness, and summarizing and explaining the function of those paths. First, there is debate and response. The first is: "Illusion" etc., four lines. You have determined that all phenomena are like illusions, without inherent existence. Even if one knows this, if there is no need to abandon afflictions etc., then such determination is merely a waste of time. If you think there is a need, how can this stop afflictions? It will not stop. The magician who conjures an illusory woman, even if he directly realizes that the illusory woman is empty of an external woman, it is seen that he still generates attachment, thinking that this illusory woman can be enjoyed. If you say that emptiness is only initially realized through hearing and thinking, then the answer is the lines "He does" etc. Those earlier ones who realized that the illusory woman is empty of a woman, it is only a temporary emptiness, so it does not abandon afflictions. Our view is that realizing pervasive emptiness abandons afflictions, but such an answer is unreasonable. Realizing that the illusory woman is empty of a woman is not realizing a temporary emptiness in relation to a subtle object of negation, because one knows the object of negation, and knows that it is not on the same phenomenon, and one can understand others etc., because one has learned from other places. Therefore, in general, for delusion, there is non-conceptual delusion, such as seeing hairs falling due to blurred vision. Even if the mind understands that hairs are not falling, that delusion will not stop. To stop it, one must take measures to eliminate the blurred vision. For conceptual delusion, there is also immediate delusion, arising from sudden causes, such as mistaking a rope for a snake etc., as long as one recognizes that it is a rope, that delusion will stop. To stop it, there is no need to cultivate that recognition for a long time. The belief in inherent existence in the minds of all beings is something that even the Buddhas cannot see, from beginningless time, it is extremely familiar with the mind, and it has become like the mind's dharma, let alone its seed. How can merely realizing that there is no truth stop even the manifest, gross belief in inherent existence? Not only that, even if one directly realizes that there is no truth, one cannot abandon the seeds of afflictions that are completely imputed.
