As stated in the Vanasamutta Sutta, "Again and again," etc., even when afflictions are temporarily suppressed, they will arise again. For example, in the state of non-perceptual attainment, although afflictions are not manifest, they arise again. Here, it is good that the Vajracchedika Sutra is quoted in the Great Commentary. In that Sutra, the Blessed One said to Subhuti: 'Subhuti, do you think that a stream-enterer thinks, "I have entered the stream"?' Subhuti replied: 'No, Blessed One.' Why? Because then he would be tainted by the poison of signs. etc.' This is not merely thinking that one is a stream-enterer, but grasping at it as true. Therefore, as previously explained, one should meditate on emptiness. Furthermore, if liberation is attained by abandoning afflictions, then when doubts arise regarding "that," etc., the other is the same as before, except that "immediately" refers to merely abandoning the manifestation of afflictions. Also, if, like ignorance, craving is divided into two types, afflictive and non-afflictive, then the fault is the same as previously stated, and this craving refers to the craving of the twelve links of dependent origination, which will be explained below, so it is pervaded by afflictiveness. Furthermore, if this craving is not afflictive, then it is not an affliction obscuration, and must be established as a cognitive obscuration, then as an answer to "liberation from samsara by the exhaustion of craving," it would become not liberated from samsara, because the cognitive obscuration has not been exhausted, which would become irrelevant.

It is not necessary. Therefore, at the end of "One should meditate on emptiness," there are three verses such as "Speech that enters the Sutra Pitaka," which seem to be a refutation of the Great Vehicle. It should have appeared at the beginning of "The root of the teachings, the Bhikshu," etc. Putting it here is done out of ignorance of the occasion, and it is not a work of the teacher, as stated in the Great Commentary. The explanation of the actions of those paths is summarized as "out of ignorance," etc. The previous scriptures have stated that one must realize emptiness merely to be liberated from samsara, and here it shows that those paths are necessary to attain non-abiding nirvana. For this, for sentient beings who are self-satisfied, they fall into the extreme of attachment to samsara, and the Shravakas, fearing samsara, seek only their own peace, falling into the extreme of peace. Having liberated from the two extremes, for the sake of sentient beings who experience suffering due to ignorance of the two selves, the Bodhisattvas abide in samsara out of compassion. If one lacks the realization of emptiness, even if one abides in samsara with compassion alone, one will become weary of experiencing many sufferings for a long time, and will turn to seeking only one's own happiness. If one possesses such wisdom, one will realize that samsara and its suffering are without inherent existence, like illusions, and not only will one not be harmed by the suffering of samsara, but one will also be able to abide there with joy. This is the fruit of realizing emptiness. Therefore, it is unreasonable to refute the side of emptiness. Therefore, one should not doubt whether emptiness is necessary or not, whether one should meditate on it or not, but one should meditate on emptiness. The antidote to the darkness of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, and the habitual tendencies of grasping at truth, is the realization of emptiness, the rest is easy to understand. One should fear and be afraid of things like grasping at truth that cause suffering, but the realization of emptiness is the pacifier of suffering, so how can fear arise towards it, it should not arise. If there were some truly established self, then fear would arise from anything that could be feared, but since there is none, how can there be fear, who is inherently established? It is not so. The two selflessnesses are extensively explained, namely, the extensive explanation of the selflessness of persons, and the extensive explanation of the selflessness of phenomena. First is the refutation of self, and the
