Therefore, the Pramāṇavārttika states that whatever harms what is to be established is contradictory. It is said, and "having one cause of self-grasping," etc., although the ways of holding onto attachment and anger are different, they are not contradictory. If it were not so, if merely the otherness of phenomena were mutually isolated, it would become contradictory, and causes and effects would also become contradictory. Thus, if contradictory, it must be prevented, and if related, the establishment of proof will be destroyed. Therefore, blue and yellow, etc., are mutually abandoned, but not contradictory in the sense of mutual abandonment, it is said, while permanence and impermanence, etc., are said to be contradictory in nature. This is not reasonable, because the text of the Pramāṇavārttika only shows that what harms the object to be proven in the case of a sign is a contradictory sign, but it does not show the meaning of contradiction, so it is irrelevant. That Pramāṇavārttika also only shows that although the ways of holding onto attachment and anger are different, they do not harm the cause of self-grasping, so they are not antidotes that uproot the seed, so it is even more irrelevant. Permanence and impermanence should be what is harmed and what can harm, because they are contradictory. The thesis and pervasion are accepted. If you accept, then it should not be that, because permanence does not harm impermanence, and impermanence does not harm permanence. The reason for the former is that on some basis like space, it cannot be established as harming impermanence because it can prevent impermanence. Apart from that, there is no way to establish how it harms it. If the former reason is not established, then impermanence should also harm permanence, because on a blue basis, impermanence can prevent permanence. The thesis and pervasion are accepted. If you accept, then the phenomenon of impermanence, you should be both what is harmed and what can harm permanence, because permanence also harms you, and you also harm permanence. Therefore, without looking at the basis, permanence and impermanence are not what is harmed and what can harm, but looking at the basis, just as on sound, impermanence can prevent it from being permanent, and on space, being permanent can prevent it from being impermanent. On a sapphire, being blue can prevent it from being yellow, and on gold, being yellow can prevent it from being blue, so it must be accepted that blue and yellow are contradictory. Furthermore, what is made and permanence.
