The omniscient, etc., which transcends the realm of the world, and speech, etc., have a common basis, because there is no valid cognition that can harm them, so the sign is contrary to the dharma to be refuted, and it is not established by valid cognition. To prove this, one person is both omniscient and a speaker, what is the nature of the harmer and the harmed, is it established or not? If one knows all knowable things, then speech must cease completely, then even now one must not be able to speak the meaning of what is known. Because the speaker is also, and the meaning of what is said is also, the common basis is manifestly established. If you say that because such is not observed, then, etc., the meaning is, according to the wisdom of the king of gods, even if there is no valid cognition to prove that speech and omniscience are contradictory, however, there is no such omniscient one, because it is not observed. For the sign that prevents the object to be refuted, it is sufficient to say from the beginning that not observing the object to be refuted itself is the probandum. What is the point of setting up signs such as speech, etc., which show oneself to be very foolish? The ornament and its followers also seem to be the same in meaning. To prevent the non-observation from being set up as a sign, non-observation is like that. Etc., the meaning of these verses is, some who are separated from the lord of the excellent spiritual friend, and who are extremely impoverished by the wealth of merit and wisdom, say that the omniscient cannot be established by the valid cognition of the power of things, so it is very hidden, therefore it is not certain whether it exists or not. Because it is the meaning of a kalpa, it is not certain whether it exists or not. They say that their own teacher is like a flesh-eating demon in front of them, and they only doubt whether it exists or not. If, because it is very hidden, it is only doubtful whether it exists or not, then the ripening of happiness and suffering from good and evil deeds must also be considered only doubtful whether it exists or not. In order to mock the wrong view that cuts off all the roots of virtue in one's own mind, even if one is pure from one's own position, one mocks that view, gathering in a large group, what will your going become? What will birth become? What will be experienced become? It is the object of the utmost compassion of the holy ones. Because the omniscient is the meaning of a kalpa, it is not certain whether it exists or not.

If you cannot, you will doubt whether the teacher Shakyamuni Buddha is a Buddha, whether all the collections of scriptures he spoke are the words of the Buddha, whether his teachings, which are widely known, are the teachings of the Buddha, and whether all the acts of giving, keeping precepts, listening, contemplating, and meditating that are practiced now are Dharma. What could be worse than that? If you doubt the existence of refuge, then even taking refuge cannot arise in your mind, so how can there be an opportunity to hold the vows of the upper and lower vehicles? Even just the existence of the Buddha, you vow that it is not established. Then, what is the teaching that you hold, other than the teaching of the demons? Those who think that becoming a Buddha takes a long time, since they do not think that liberation takes a long time, it is impossible, so they must say that they doubt the existence or non-existence of liberation and omniscience. Saying that the Buddha is very hidden and cannot be established by direct perception, then, without even a rough understanding of what the subject and purpose of the first chapter of establishing validity are, they spread the hail of evil views on the treatises of Dharmakirti. They themselves have become like sheep, dumb to the path of reasoning of the power of things such as achieving liberation and omniscience, so do they shout that this reasoning is not established, thereby cutting off the lifeblood of liberation for the wicked? The very nature of what should be taken and abandoned, is well determined with means, because it does not deceive the main thing, it is also inferred from others. Thus, as the taking and abandoning of the four truths is said, taking what is established by direct perception as an example, it is also said that the meaning of the relationship between actions and results, etc., which is very hidden, is established without deception. Such things, etc., all become great errors of Dharmakirti. As the distinction of taking and abandoning of the four truths is said, if it is established by direct perception, then the cessation truth is what should be attained, and the path truth is the means to it and should be taken, both must be established by direct perception. The cessation truth of abandoning afflictive obscurations is established by direct perception, and the cessation truth of abandoning cognitive obscurations is by direct perception.
