If it is asked, what is the way in which one is not deceived by the power of connection through inference and the reason? It is that very meaning, which is explained in detail by "any object" and so on. This is also very clear in the commentaries of both Lhagyen. Here, it is explained in two ways: the way in which one is not deceived by the power of connection through inference based on the establishing reason, and the way in which one is not deceived by the power of connection based on the refuting reason. The first has two parts: examining the limits of the mind that grasps the reason, and explaining the meaning of the words of the text. The first has two parts: refuting the views of those who say that the views of the teacher Dharmakirti are not reasonable, and establishing the views of Dharmakirti himself as the reasonable side. The first is: The teacher Gyenkhyenpo believes that the mind that grasps the connection between the reason and the property is the mind that grasps the reason, and this is divided into two: one is grasping the connection between the reason and the property on the example, and the other is grasping the connection between the reason and the property on the subject. The former is only grasping the reason, and the latter is the mind of the subject. They make this view the view of the teacher Dharmakirti, and then express a refutation of it: If the reason is the connection itself, the grasping is the mind of the reason, and the connection of the property to be established is from inference. If that is the case, it will become infinite. Because for inference, the connection is known from another aspect, and there too it is from another. And so on. If the connection between the reason and the property is known through inference, then for that inference, it must also be known through another inference, and so on, which will become an infinite fault. If the one who grasps the reason grasps the connection on the example, but not on the subject, and inference grasps the connection on the subject, because there is something extra, there is no fault. If it is enough to grasp the connection on the example, then what is the use of grasping the connection on the subject? For the property, it is not like that, because the connection between the property to be established and the subject itself is the main thing to be established. The connection between the reason and the property is the establisher, not the established, so it is not to be measured on the subject by inference. They say this, and also think like this: However, if the reason is manifest, as the reason itself is the knower, then
