As a response to "mixing in a state of no difference in parts, therefore appearing the same," the use of words like "mutually," etc., not separating the categories of reason, is the view of the Ornament School. The God School explains the fourth reason for proving the non-substantiality of the universal characteristic: the three of atoms, darkness, and mental strength are mutually different, and the Samkhya school itself also admits the difference between sentient and non-sentient beings. How can such things with mutually different characteristics become an undifferentiated state of no difference in parts of the entity? It is unreasonable to become like that. If it is said that these things have one nature without parts and two natures of transformation, then even so, how can these things become the nature of one substance without parts? It is contradictory to become like that. The Vaibhashika says, if the common substance that follows those manifestations in the same way is a different substance from those manifestations, then there is no fault. If it is said, "the commonality of those manifestations," it becomes irrelevant because it is a mutually independent different entity. For the universal that eliminates other things, those faults cannot be refuted from either of the two aspects, because manifestation and substance are neither one nor different. Therefore, for the universal that eliminates other things that follows the same way as manifestations, there is not the slightest characteristic of being established as real, that is its nature. Although distinguishing is non-substantial, it is not contradictory to follow as the nature of many real manifestations, for example, the non-thumb follows the remaining fingers, which is recorded in the commentary of the God. According to the view of the Ornament School, saying "those of" becomes irrelevant. In response to the statement that "even if things are different, it is faultless as a result of manifestation," it is explained by using words such as "if it is a result." According to the view of the God School, the fifth reason for proving the non-substantiality of the universal characteristic is: if the universal that is the object of the universal mind is a result, then it contradicts being permanent and unique; if it is a permanent thing as a result, then it becomes unrelated to manifestation; because it is not a result, it becomes non-substantial, thus explaining it. It is expressed through words such as "if it is a result, then many." The sixth reason for proving the non-substantiality of the universal characteristic is: the sign that the universal mind arises from verbal memory, with this

Demonstrating that the object of appearance is unreal. By the power of things, etc. Even for those who do not understand the names, such as the spotted cow, and thinking that gourds are of the same kind, it is not because the general characteristic is permanent and the same as things, but because it does not have impurities, etc., and the one meaning that is the opposite of this, it seems close to the two in common, so it is shown with metaphors, etc. The two things, etc., have six in common. What are the two that are proven to follow in common among the general characteristics that eliminate others? Like ornaments, how can there be no kind, etc., as said. The answer to the statement that the example is not established because the eyes, etc., also follow the kind, the permanent thing, is that those who follow the kind, the permanent thing, are prevented by the sign of the object. It is explained in various ways, etc. Like a god, the seventh reasoning for proving that the general characteristic is unreal is that it is not permissible for something that appears to be different from a vase in conceptualization to be real. If so, it must appear as an independent thing that does not depend on clarity. However, in any way, there is no such thing appearing as real in consciousness. That sound, and other than the essence, etc., even when the clear conceptualization of the vase is grasped, only the general sound of the name of the vase and the general meaning of the essence such as the bulging of the abdomen, etc., are not the meaning of the permanent general characteristic of the vase that must appear. Therefore, these four demonstrate the eighth reasoning for proving that the general characteristic is unnecessary. Most of the former explain it as the meaning of the commentary of Lhawang Blo. In the commentary, from the second reasoning to the seventh reasoning, there are words such as "also" at the beginning, as conjunctions for explaining the types of reasoning, but there are none here. Even if the meaning of the commentary explaining the eighth reasoning is combined with it, it only seems appropriate. Even so, it is better to combine this verse with the meaning of summarizing the reasoning for proving that the general characteristic is unreal. The meaning opposite to what has been said is that the meaning of what is said is that, for what has been said, and that one thing cannot be said to be different or the same, etc., the reasoning for proving the unreal is as said, and what is established as the opposite of those is the meaning of one's own nature. Therefore, if the general characteristic is, there is the pervasiveness and meaning of not being able to function.
