If you ask: Who can show other disciples "I have realized Suchness"? Second, there are two: refuting the dispute that Suchness cannot be realized, and refuting the dispute that there is no knower. First, in this world, when knowledge is held to follow the form of that object, it is said that this knowledge can recognize that object. For example, when the mind arises with the form of any blue object, it is said that this mind completely knows that blue object. Similarly, when the knowledge of the object arises with the same form as the Suchness of that object, it is established as realizing Suchness based on conventional truth. The way in which knowledge follows the form of that Suchness is: when the Suchness of the object, which is naturally unborn, is such, the wisdom of its object also enters with the form of being naturally unborn and separated, like water entering water. It is only by following and holding the form of that object that it is established as realizing Suchness, so there is no fault of the previous dispute. In the translation of Nagtsho, it says: "At that time, the realization of that Suchness is the holding of that form." As it is said, it is pure without comparison. Here, in the self-commentary, it says: "Therefore, from imputation, it is established that Suchness is realized. In reality, it is not that someone knows something, because both knowledge and the knowable are unborn." The meaning of "from imputation" as it is said is, as it is said, "relying on language, it is known," it is not known by its own nature, but only from imputation is it established as the meaning of knowing, it is not that the knowledge of Suchness is established as imputation. The meaning of "in reality" and so on is that it is only the appearance of a form that is free from elaboration, it is not knowledge, but it is not knowledge that appears similar to the form of blue, yellow, etc., because the Suchness of that object is unborn, and similarly, the object is also in the form of being naturally unborn. In this way, the former proponent believes that the form of Suchness will not appear in the mind, and if the form of that object does not appear, then

If it is said that consciousness does not enter the object, and if it does not enter, then it does not understand the object, and if it does not understand, then it contradicts understanding the subject. If the aspect of the object does not appear, consciousness will not enter, etc., and you yourselves think so. Therefore, without refuting it, it is prevented that the aspect of the ultimate truth will not appear in the consciousness. It is established that the aspect of the ultimate truth appears in the consciousness, and that the object is realized through its appearance, and this is explained with an analogy. Therefore, in this school, if it is said that there is no non-conceptual wisdom that realizes the ultimate truth, then it is slandering the supreme realization of the noble ones. Here it says, "In an instant, all knowable things are understood." Through one instant, one can attain the omniscient wisdom, and the wisdom of knowing the suchness appears as the knowable and the knowing being actually different, therefore it is said that it is not understood. For these, it seems necessary to understand well how the Buddha knows the suchness and the extent of things, therefore, I will briefly say something. Here, before attaining Buddhahood, one consciousness cannot, in one instant, manifest the different dharmas separately, nor can it truly know the nature of reality, therefore, knowing these two is alternating. From the exhaustion of all the imprints of clinging to reality and the attainment of Buddhahood, one constantly abides in the samadhi of directly realizing the ultimate truth. Because the subsequent attainment arising from samadhi is not alternating, and the Self-Commentary on the Two Truths says, "With one instant of knowing, it pervades the entire circle of knowable things." As it is said, because there is no subsequent wisdom that knows the extent of things, which is different in essence from the wisdom of samadhi, it must be admitted that one wisdom knows all the knowable things of the two truths. When relying on the nature of reality and becoming the wisdom of knowing the suchness, at that time, in the face of that consciousness, all dualistic appearances are pacified, therefore, that wisdom is like water poured into water, merging into one taste. When relying on phenomena and becoming the wisdom of knowing the extent of things, although there is dualistic appearance in which the object and the subject appear separately, because the imprints of dualistic confusion have been eradicated, it is a dualistic appearance that is not confused about the appearing object, and not a confused dualistic appearance. This way of not being confused has already been explained in detail elsewhere. Buddha
