Thus it is said, and Āryadeva also clearly stated it in the Compendium of the Essence of Wisdom. Secondly, it is said that other provisional meaning sūtras that do not directly and completely show reality should also be taught in the same way by those with wisdom. As previously stated, one should understand the history of definitive and provisional meanings of the scriptures, that is, the classification. Which sūtras have the meaning of explaining what is not the ultimate truth, that is, what is expressed, the provisional meaning that does not directly and clearly explain dependent origination distinguished by characteristics such as unborn, should also be understood as provisional meaning and guided accordingly. Therefore, in order to enter the realization of emptiness of inherent existence, it should be taught in this way. As it is said in the Praise of the Transcendent: "If the elements are not apprehended by the eye, how can they be apprehended by the eye? When this is said about form, you should dispel the clinging to form." And in the sūtra it is said: "The meaning of impermanence is the meaning of non-existence." The way the former scripture becomes a cause of knowledge is that the Blessed One said in the Abhidharma that the four elements are not the object of the eye, but are tangible, and that the source of the changing form arising from them is the object of the eye. While it is necessary to accept both of these, if their reality is shown, if they are established by their own nature, then it must be accepted that the elements are the object of the eye, or that the object of form is not the object of the eye. When this is known, it will be understood that the previous statements were not to show their reality, but to newly realize reality, and to be taught as a method of entering the previous statements. The meaning of the second scripture is that, as before, things are shown to arise and perish, and it should be understood that this is the meaning of emptiness of inherent existence. From which sūtra should one understand as definitive meaning the one that has the meaning of emptiness of inherent existence of persons and phenomena, that is, the one that directly expresses it. Thus, in the Samādhirāja Sūtra it says: "The emptiness taught by the Sugata, know the distinction of the definitive meaning sūtras. Whatever sūtra teaches sentient beings and persons, know that all those phenomena are of provisional meaning." That is, the distinction of the sūtras is the difference that the provisional meaning sūtras are not the same as the definitive meaning sūtras. Person

The teachings are merely symbolic, showing the existence of the agent, the object of action, and the action itself. This is the source of classifying the sutras into those requiring interpretation and those not requiring interpretation. Furthermore, it says in that very text: "In thousands of world realms, whatever dharmas I have spoken, the letters are different but the meaning is the same; it is not possible to fully proclaim them. If one contemplates one thing, then all of them will be meditated upon. All the many dharmas taught by all the Buddhas, the nature of all those dharmas is selflessness. Whoever is skilled in meaning, if they study in this place, it is not difficult to find the Buddhadharmas." It is said. The four lines beginning with "world" mean that among the many sutras spoken, those that directly clarify the ultimate reality directly incline towards suchness. Even the interpretable meanings that do not show it in that way also incline towards suchness through a gradual process, so inclining towards the ultimate reality is the same in meaning. Therefore, in the world, a beginner cannot fully understand all the sutras, so it is said to investigate the meaning of suchness of one sutra, whatever sutra it may be. Even those that do not directly show suchness must be explained as the cause for entering into it, which is understood by citing it as evidence. The two lines beginning with "one thing" mean that if one understands and meditates well on the suchness of one phenomenon, then the suchness of all phenomena will be meditated upon, so there is no need to meditate separately on the nature of each phenomenon. The three lines beginning with "all Buddhas" show what it is that if one meditates on one thing, all will be meditated upon, and it is said that way because "the nature of dharmas is selflessness," which does not mean that one is enough for the vast range of phenomena. In the Chandrapradipa Sutra, it is said that one should also understand the extensive teachings in sutras such as the Akshayamati Sutra, just as it is said there to establish a definite number. These have already been thoroughly explained in the distinction between interpretable and definitive meanings. What is to be said is just a part, which is to show a part of how our own system establishes the three natures if one interprets the three natures explained in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra as interpretable meaning. For example, a snake
