It will not become unreasonable, and the other party should also acknowledge this. Therefore, one should not establish it by searching for the referent of a chariot, which is the view of the Madhyamaka school. It should be shown that one should acknowledge worldly terms, and the other party must also acknowledge this. When turning back a fault thrown outwards, one should not say there is no acknowledgment if it cannot be refuted. The fourth point is: In this side of the Madhyamaka school, not only is it most clearly established that the name 'chariot' is applied through worldly convention, but also other distinctions of the name 'chariot' should be acknowledged through worldly convention, without analyzing them by searching for the referent. For example, the chariot itself is a possessor of parts in relation to its own limbs such as wheels; similarly, it is a possessor of parts in relation to parts such as wheels; the chariot itself, in relation to the act of taking, which is to take wheels etc., is called the agent and is attributed with action; in relation to its own basis of taking, such as form, it is also established as the taker for beings. Some, misunderstanding the meaning of the scriptures, think that there is only a collection of limbs, and that there is no possessor of limbs in any way other than this collection, because no entity different from this collection can be found. Similarly, apply this to parts, actions, and taking, thinking that there is only a collection, and that there is no possessor of parts, agent, or taker in any way other than this collection, because no entity different from these collections can be found. According to such a distorted way of establishing conventional truth, the reason just stated for the non-existence of a possessor of limbs would also lead to the non-existence of even the limbs themselves. Therefore, do not destroy the worldly conventional truths such as chariots that are known in the world, do not let them perish, this is what should be refuted. Here, one's own upper and lower schools and other schools think that the collection of limbs etc. are possessors of limbs etc., because if they do not establish them as possessors of limbs etc., they would see that there are no possessors of limbs etc. different in entity from them, and therefore they do not know how to establish possessors of limbs etc. that can perform actions, so they think in this way.

If they seek the imputed meaning of having limbs, etc., and do not find it, then they do not know how to establish these. Therefore, they do not want the chariot, etc., to be merely nominal designations, but rather want the chariot, etc., to be established by their own nature. Regarding this, it is stated in the commentaries that this is a distorted understanding of the meaning of the scriptures. Because this excellent system does not take the collection of limbs, or any of its parts, as the basis for having limbs, etc., it can still perfectly establish functions merely on the designation of having limbs, etc., which is an explanation of the meaning of the scriptures. This is the uncommon intention of the Sage (Shakyamuni Buddha). Therefore, the wise should study this way of explaining the intention. The sixth (chapter) has five (parts): the actual meaning. Among them are: refuting disputes, applying the terms chariot and self as examples and meanings, explaining other qualities of acknowledging the self imputed in dependence, and identifying the self as the basis for the bondage and liberation of the wise and foolish.
