Because I cannot be said to be other than the entity of difference, but is imputed, therefore, realizing that the person is not established as existing by its own entity is not to be apprehended. Thus, through two verses, refuting substantial existence and closely demonstrating imputed existence. Therefore, stating that that and this are the basis of things, and by that not being the basis itself, attempting to prevent the self from existing as substantial. If, according to your view, the self exists as substantial, then just as you think that your consciousness is not other than your own entity, the person must also not be other than his own entity, so it must be said to be the same. Also, just as you think that your consciousness is a thing different from form, etc., the person must also be said to be an entity different from the aggregates. Because the aspects of one and different will necessarily appear on things, therefore the self is not substantial, because the dharma of things is contrary to being established as that and this. The fifth (chapter) has four (parts): Although the self does not exist in the seven extremes, it is argued that the self imputed in dependence is similar to a chariot; elaborating on the remaining two views not previously explained; refuting others' refutations of such explanations; arguing that other meanings of name terminology are also established. The first (part) is: Because when analyzed as previously stated, it is unreasonable for the person to exist as substantial, therefore, the basis of self-grasping, i.e., the object, is not a real thing, i.e., not established by nature. Because in analysis, the self is not other than the aggregates, the entity of the aggregates, whether collection or individual, is not the self, the self is not the basis of the aggregates, the aggregates are not the basis of the self, and the self is not inherently existent in conjunction with those aggregates. Therefore, whether someone in your own school says that the self exists imputedly, or someone thinks that the self is not an object in the ultimate sense, do not acknowledge the self in the manner described above, because the self is established in dependence on the aggregates. In order not to interrupt this way of establishing the conventional truth, which is merely "this arises from this," when acknowledging, not wishing to arise from four ways such as without a cause

Similarly, in this case, I also believe that it is nominally designated based on the aggregates. If we refute the previous schools of thought that have faults as described, then, merely for the sake of establishing worldly conventions as they are, we should acknowledge that it is nominally designated based on the aggregates, because it is seen that the designation of "I" is undeniable. In order to establish that "I" is merely a nominal designation, and to clarify the meaning as previously stated, an example from externalists is given and explained: A chariot is not something other than its own limbs, nor is it other, nor is it established as one; it is in conjunction with the aggregates, relies on the limbs, and the limbs rely on the self; these are not inherently existent; merely the collection of limbs and the shape of the limbs are not like that; similarly, the self and the aggregates should also be understood in the same way. The second part is divided into two parts: the meaning of the main text, and transferring this reasoning to other aspects. The first part is divided into two parts: refuting the view that the collection is the chariot, and refuting the view that merely the shape is the chariot. The first part: The previous five schools have already been explained, therefore, here we need to refute that the school of collection and the school of shape are the chariot, which needs to be established, so we begin to explain these. If the limbs of the chariot are merely a collection and become the chariot, then, the disassembled limbs of the chariot exist separately, and the collection should also have the chariot. Refuting that the collection of limbs is its own part has been said before, but it is quoted here in order to explain a different fault from what was said before. There are other faults, because if there is no whole with parts, then the limbs also do not exist, therefore the limbs also do not exist, because those of their own school have already admitted that the chariot does not exist as a whole with parts. If they think that the collection of limbs is a whole with parts, and the limbs are parts of the whole, and similarly they also consider them as limbs and a whole with parts, therefore they have not admitted that there is no whole with parts, then there is no fault, because their own school is that both the individual parts of the aggregates and the collection are to be taken, just as they do not consider that to be the taker, the chariot Each of the limbs and the collection are established as limbs, not established as a whole with parts, and those schools also
