In such a context of connection, non-Buddhists do not want the term "self" to apply to such objects. They think that in this way, there will be no fault of their own doctrine collapsing. But that is also unreasonable, because here, the internal agent is the "self," and in the case of karma and its result, it is the aggregates. There is no reason to use it as one pleases. If they think that in the case of karma and its result, it is impossible for the internal agent to be both the agent of the action and the experiencer of the result, then it has already been said before that the term "self" does not apply to the aggregates either. Therefore, if they do not want the term "self" to apply to the aggregates here, in the statement "all phenomena are without self," then they should not want it to apply in the case of karma and its result either. If they want the term "self" to apply to the aggregates in the case of karma and its result, then here, in the statement "all phenomena are without self," they should also want the term "self" to apply to the aggregates. There is another fault: according to your view, the yogi, by directly seeing the absence of self, will not realize the suchness of form and so on, because at that time he only sees that the permanent self, which is imputed by the non-Buddhists, does not exist. Therefore, since they engage by focusing on the truth of form and so on, attachment and so on, which have form and so on as their object, will still arise, because they have not realized the nature of form and so on, that is, the way things are. For example, just as merely saying that there are bees in the nectar of a flower, without having personally tasted the sweetness of the nectar, is like not focusing on the sweetness of the nectar, even if the yogi sees that the phenomena of the aggregates are separate from the permanent self, if they did not know the nature of form and so on before, then they will not realize anything later. Similarly, just as merely because there are no bees in an apple, it does not mean that when tasting the sweetness of the apple, one will not be aware of that taste, and one cannot abandon the attachment to it, similarly, in the case of focusing on the self-nature of form and so on as true, merely seeing the absence of a permanent self, what cause will arise to abandon the attachment to form and so on? It will not arise. Merely seeing the absence of a permanent self,

It will become possible to abandon attachment to objects, etc. No one will rely on objects that can experience happiness because they believe that the inner agent is real. Nor will they abandon encountering unpleasant objects because they doubt that the inner is permanent, happy, and pure. Therefore, because there is no cause to abandon attachment, etc., one cannot be liberated from samsara, just like non-Buddhists. The fourth part has five points: explaining that all views that consider "I" are only views of the aggregates; explaining, based on other sutras, that the mere collection of aggregates is not "I"; refuting the view that the arrangement of the shape of the mere collection of aggregates is "I"; revealing other harms to considering the mere collection of aggregates as "I"; and that the Thubpa (Shakyamuni Buddha) said that "I" is established based on the six elements, etc. The first part has three points: explaining that the intention of the scriptures is from the aspect of negating what is to be negated; even if it is from the aspect of establishing, it is not showing the aggregates as "I"; refuting the arguments of others on these. The first point is: If we take the scriptures as valid cognition, then the valid cognition of reasoning does not harm it. The scriptures also only show the aggregates as "I", because the teacher (Shakyamuni Buddha) said: 'Monks, any Shramana or Brahmin who correctly contemplates "I" also only correctly contemplates these five aggregates of appropriation.' Therefore, if it is thought that the sutras say that the aggregates are "I", then that sutra does not show the aggregates as "I". What is it then? The teacher's intention is to consider "I" as the object of viewing "I" as a different nature from the aggregates, which is prevented by the limitation of 'only', because this is to refute the tenets of non-Buddhists in relation to conventional truth, and to show the "I" that exists in conventional truth without perversion. Also, how is it known that this is preventing the "I" that is different in nature from the aggregates? Because other sutras say 'form is not I', etc., preventing form, etc., from being "I". How is it prevented in other sutras? Because form and feeling are not "I", thought is also not "I", formations are also not "I", and consciousness is also not "I", in other sutras.
