as well as smell, taste, and touch. From just these arise the elements, namely earth, water, fire, wind, and space. From the ego with a courageous mind arise the five organs of action, namely hands, feet, buttocks, and the organ of generation, and the five organs of intelligence, namely eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin or the organ of the body, and the mind which has the nature of both, thus there are eleven in total. The ego with darkness is the entrance for the other two egos. Thus, the great one, the ego, and the five "that onlys," making seven, are both nature and transformation. The ten organs, the mind, and the five elements are only transformations, and the fundamental nature, the chief one, is only nature, this is the tenet. Second, just as the Samkhyas assert the self, likewise, depending on slight differences in that self, the views of the non-Buddhists become different. For example, the Vaisheshikas assert that intelligence, pleasure, suffering, desire, hatred, effort, dharma, non-dharma, and the force of action are the nine qualities of the self. Among these, intelligence is apprehending an object. Pleasure is experiencing a desired object. Suffering is the opposite of that. Desire is cherishing hope for a desired object. Hatred is turning one's back on an undesired object. Effort is the mind's skillfulness in the ultimate accomplishment of what is to be done. That from which eminence and definite goodness are accomplished is dharma. The opposite of that is non-dharma. That which arises from knowledge and becomes the cause of knowledge is the force of conditioning. As long as these nine qualities of the self gather in and exist in the self, one revolves in samsara because they combine to perform virtuous and non-virtuous actions. When a person, through the knowledge of truly realizing the self, cuts off the qualities such as intelligence together with their roots, then one abides in one's own nature and becomes liberated. That self is also permanent, the agent of results, the enjoyer who consumes the results, possessing qualities, and because it is pervasive, it is also said to be inactive. Some Vaisheshikas consider it to be contracting,

Merely extending commits to actions as well. The Lokayata say that just as the space of different things such as pots is one, the bodies that are relied upon are different, and the self that relies on them becomes diverse. They commit to this and so on. The commentary says that relying on a little bit of difference in the self, the tenets of the non-Buddhists become different from each other. Thus, according to the view of this treatise, explaining the separation of non-Buddhist tenets based on the divisions of the Samkhya is not understanding the meaning. Secondly, whatever different self is spoken of in each of the non-Buddhist tenets, it becomes as they have named it, and it is not truly existent, because it is unborn. Therefore, the reason for saying unborn is the inference of the non-Buddhists themselves, which is what they themselves commit to. For example, like the son of a barren woman. There is no fault in negating the dharma that is spoken of by that reason, because both the reason and the dharma are merely simple negations. Thus, this self that is conjectured by others cannot be the basis of the innate ego-grasping, the reason and example are the same as before. The basis of ego-grasping means that among the two, the object and the subject, it is not the object of the object, its object is only the self and the person, etc., and they consider it to be real, so it contradicts the unborn. The object of the subject is the self of the person, which is not even established as a mere designation, so it does not contradict the unborn. Therefore, saying that this tenet believes that the self of the person exists as a designation is because these people have not carefully distinguished the key points of this tenet, and the object and subject of the view of the aggregates, and speak randomly. Thus, negating the existence of the self and being the object of ego-grasping is done on the premise of adding the distinction of ultimate truth to the object of negation. Not only that, but it should also be known that both of these are also negated in conventional truth. At that time, saying that one does not admit the existence of the self means that the self does not exist as a substance. These two reasons and examples not only negate the two objects of negation, but it should also be known that all the distinctions of the self named by the non-Buddhists do not exist either. What is the reason for that? Because of the treatises of the Samkhya and the Vaisheshika, etc.
