If it is proclaimed, because the other schools are inherently weak, they cannot absorb and establish other doctrines. Just as darkness disappears when light approaches, they will say that we have no faults. If the truth is proclaimed as it is, whatever is established by other schools will be destroyed, then we have no fault. As it is said in the "Hundred Treatises": "The Buddhas did not speak for the sake of argument, but to proclaim the wonderful meaning of this Dharma, just as fire burns firewood, this Dharma can burn the tenets of other schools." Although fire is used for cooking and boiling water, not for producing ashes and charcoal, it is said that these also come along as examples. If the Dharma is proclaimed because of attachment to argument, then there is no doubt that one will hate the faults of other schools and will follow and be attached to one's own rational school, so that the thoughts of hatred and attachment cannot be stopped. Why? Because like this, clinging to one's own views and being disgusted with the views of other schools, these are the thoughts of bondage, because the thoughts of hatred and attachment do not stop but increase, so they will only become bondage, not liberation. When the Dharma is not proclaimed for the sake of argument, therefore, one should eliminate attachment to one's own school and hatred to other schools, and discern with reason, then one can quickly attain liberation. It is also said in the "Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning": "The nature of the great virtuous ones without contention, they actually have no school, whoever they have no school, how can they have other schools?". It is also said in the "Hundred Treatises": "If you are greedy for your own school and you do not like other schools, then that person will not enter Nirvana, and the two will not be at peace together." It is also said in the "King of Samadhi Sutra": "If someone hears this Dharma and becomes attached, and hears non-Buddhist Dharma and becomes angry, he is destroyed and reversed by pride and arrogance, and suffers because of pride." Therefore, if one abandons the attachment and hatred towards oneself and others and towards schools, and does not observe with an impartial mind, then relying on the practice of observing schools themselves will tightly bind one in samsara.

Please know that due to compassion for all of us, please grant special instructions. From the cessation of self-arising up to this point, the selflessness of phenomena has been taught. The teaching on the selflessness of phenomena that are things is very extensive. The selflessness of phenomena that are not things is also intended to be taught intermittently. Second, there are three points to establishing the selflessness of persons through reasoning: those who desire liberation must first refute the self-established self; the manner of refuting the self-establishment of both self and what belongs to self; and extending the analysis of self and chariot to other objects as well. The first point is: Having thus taught the selflessness of phenomena through scripture and reasoning, it is explained in order to teach the selflessness of persons thereafter. Here, the yogi who wishes to enter Suchness and wishes to abandon all faults of affliction will contemplate what the root of wandering in samsara is like. Having thus investigated, they will see with their wisdom that afflictions are attachment and so on, and faults are birth, old age, sickness, and death and so on, and that all of these arise from the view of the aggregates, which is a wisdom afflicted with the grasping of the two, which have the appearance of "I" and "mine," as being self-established. These are entirely the fruits of the view of the aggregates. Having seen this, the desire to abandon the view of the aggregates will arise. At that time, if one is wise, then abandoning that view will also be like the previous quotations from the Praise of Dharmadhatu and the Four Hundred, seeing that the self grasped by the view of the aggregates does not exist on the object, and therefore must be abandoned. Then they will contemplate what the basis of attachment of the view of the aggregates is, and what its object is. They will realize that the self, that is, the "I," is the object of this view of self. Because the grasping of self is object-oriented to the self. At that time, one who wishes to abandon all faults should abandon the root, the view of the aggregates itself. And abandoning that will come from understanding that its object, the self of the self, that is, its own nature, is not established. Therefore, the yogi will first contemplate whether this object called self, which is the object of grasping as self, is self-established or not. The yogi with self...
