Ro! It is realized through many efforts. If it does not arise from the four extremes, then arising is completely non-existent. Like this, speaking in a reversed manner from those schools is to slander the supreme reason for realizing emptiness with the thick defilement of evil thoughts, the meaning of profound dependent origination, and the supreme school that reveals the meaning of emptiness. It should be known. Thus, merely explaining the dependent origination of this cause not only makes the four impossibilities such as causeless arising impossible, but also the view of permanence that clings to self-existence, the view of annihilation that actions are unreasonable, the idea that what existed in the previous time also exists in the later times, the momentary impermanence of self-nature being different before and after, and the discriminations that things and non-things are established in their own essence, and other objects of investigation, are also said to be impossible. Because it is said that these are impossible, it is said. Because by relying on the reason that "this fruit arises from this cause," the self-nature of conventional phenomena can be obtained, otherwise it cannot be obtained. Therefore, it is not possible to examine ideas such as self-arising and other-arising. Therefore, by the reason that dependent origination is merely this cause, it is possible to cut off the net of evil views such as self-arising and other-arising as mentioned above. In this way, the Madhyamaka school, which establishes merely this cause as the meaning of dependent origination, does not admit that anything is established by its own nature. As it is said in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning": "That and that arise in dependence on each other, they do not arise from their own nature. If they do not arise from their own nature, how can they be called arising?" The meaning is that what arises in dependence on conditions does not arise from its own nature. If so, how can sprouts and so on be called arising from their own nature? The "Root Verses on the Middle Way" also say: "Dependent origination is emptiness, it is a designation, it is also the Middle Way." The meaning is that because it is dependent origination, it is not established by its own nature, and this is praised. The Sutra Pitaka also says: "Whatever arises from causes and conditions"

That (phenomenon) is unborn; it does not have the nature of being born. Whatever depends on conditions is said to be emptiness. Whoever knows emptiness is mindful. Thus it is said. Dependent arising is the reason. The meaning of "unborn," which is to be established, is revealed by the second line, which means unborn by nature. It is not that no distinction is made regarding what is to be refuted, as quoted in the commentary on the Lankavatara Sutra: "Great wisdom, considering the unborn nature, I have shown that all phenomena are unborn." Thus it is revealed, because the Buddha himself took his own intention. Therefore, by the king of reasoning, the very reasoning of dependent arising, this very prevention of self-nature birth was spoken by the Bhagavan, so he was delighted, and in many treatises such as the Root Wisdom and the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, the noble ones praised the Bhagavan through the gate of the Bhagavan's teaching of dependent arising. No wise person should utter any kind of contradictory and confusing words such as saying that what is born from dependent arising is unborn. When Thus, when one does not accept that things are established by their own nature, how will selflessness arise in self-other generation and so on? If there is something established by its own nature, then at that time birth will arise from its own essence, or from self-other and Ishvara, etc. Since what is born remains without decaying, there is permanence, and since it decays, there is the possibility of arising thoughts such as annihilation, but not otherwise, so it is explained. The clinging thoughts of extremes will arise if there is clinging to the belief that things are established by their own nature. As has been said, it has been completely examined by reason that things cannot be established by their own nature in any way. If there is no clinging to the belief that things are established by their own nature, then these clinging thoughts of extremes will not arise, just as there is no fruit of fire without the cause of firewood. Thus, through familiarizing oneself with the definitive meaning of suchness, yogis, through the samadhi that directly realizes the noble path, see suchness in a way that does not see the elaboration of appearances. For those who see suchness, there is no beginning to the clinging thoughts that truly manifest attachment to any dharma.
