Secondly, according to your system, since forms and so on are regarded as being produced by their own nature in the conventional sense, why are they not refuted in the ultimate sense? Just as a son of a barren woman does not exist by his own nature in reality, nor does he exist in worldly convention, so it is with all phenomena such as forms, which do not arise by their own nature in either worldly convention or reality. It is said that the Madhyamikas do not at all accept that things exist conventionally for those who are deluded into believing that they arise by their own nature. It should also be remembered that the term "arising by its own nature" is used to clearly distinguish what is to be refuted. Because that is so, the Teacher, the Bhagavan, taught that all dharmas are peaceful from the very beginning, free from arising by their own nature, and completely liberated by their own nature. Therefore, there is no arising by its own nature at any time. The way of speaking is as follows: In the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it is said: When the wheel of Dharma is turned, the peaceful and unborn from the beginning, the dharmas of self-nature nirvana, the protector, you have taught. It is said. The suchness of dharmas is peaceful because it is the realm of peaceful wisdom. Its reason is that it is not born of its own nature. Its reason is also that if something has its own nature, that is, it is established by its own nature, will it arise? If the self-nature does not exist, then what will arise? Therefore, it is nirvana, that is, pure. From the beginning, it is not that these dharmas are not born only in the realm of the yogi's wisdom, but rather, before that, in the realm of worldly convention, these dharmas are not born of their own nature, which shows this. The word "original" is synonymous with the word "first." One's own school should not refute that if it does not exist in the ultimate sense, then it does not exist in the conventional sense either. Why? Because they have already admitted that things like vases do not exist in the ultimate sense, but are well known in the world, that is, they exist in name, just like that.

Since all things are changing, if they do not exist ultimately, they will not fall into the fault of being the same as the child of a barren woman. As stated in the Abhidharmakosha: 'That which is destroyed and by wisdom, if others are removed, that wisdom does not enter, like a pot of water, it exists conventionally, but ultimately it is different.' As it is said, that which exists conventionally, where wisdom does not enter when it is broken into parts, is like a pot. For example, if a pot is broken into pieces, the concept of a pot will not enter. If other phenomena are removed by wisdom, that which wisdom does not enter is also conventionally existent, like water. For example, if other phenomena such as form are removed by wisdom, the concept of water will not enter. That which wisdom enters no matter how it is broken, and that which wisdom enters even if other phenomena are removed, is ultimately existent, like form. For example, even if form is broken into atoms, or if other phenomena such as taste are removed by wisdom, the wisdom of the nature of form will still enter. The same should be considered for feelings and so on. This is explained in the Abhidharmakosha commentary. It is unreasonable for those schools to say that in general, if something does not exist ultimately, it does not exist conventionally. Saying this does not mean that they have determined the way the two truths exist, nor does it mean that they are showing that their own two views are consistent, because what they have established as conventionally existent is entirely regarded by the Madhyamikas as ultimately existent. If it is thought that the four elements and the four derived elements, etc., which are the basis for imputation of things like pots, are substantially established, and that the imputation of things like pots is reasonable because it has a cause or basis, then according to the Madhyamikas, all phenomena are merely imputed, and there is nothing substantially established as the basis of imputation, so there is no way to avoid the fault of being similar to the child of a barren woman, this is also unreasonable, because it is impossible to prove that the basis of imputation is substantially established. For example, the image that is imputed based on the collection of features, etc., is merely an object of imputation, and the house that is imputed based on pillars, etc., similarly, the forest that depends on trees, and just as in a dream, one sees the sprout of unborn nature arising from the seed of unborn nature, things are imputed.
