Although it is said, the time when these words are spoken, and the loving-kindness that is distinguished by the place where one is at that time, do not make one think that it has been seen before. It is understood by looking at one's own mind that one is only attached to loving-kindness itself. Secondly, there are two great schools of thought on how memory arises without self-awareness. The school of the noble Shantideva is, as stated in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "If there is no self-awareness, how can consciousness become memory?" This is consistent with what was said above. The previous school has already been explained in detail. To both the faults and the opposite views of the previous school, answers are given that do not pervade. If there is no self-awareness, how does memory arise? When the object to be grasped, other than the grasping consciousness, becomes the object of perception and is experienced by the mind, then from the consciousness that experiences the object, the object of consciousness, i.e., memory, will arise. If the memory of the object arises from experiencing other objects, it is not reasonable, because it would be too extreme. There is no fault in this, because the memory of the object arising from experiencing the object is not memory arising from abandoning consciousness, but because it was previously said, "I have seen this thing," there is a connection between the object and the subject, i.e., memory arises because of the connection. For example, in winter, when a mouse bites the body, although the poison of the mouse enters, what is experienced is the feeling of being bitten, not the poison. Later, when the sound of thunder is heard, one remembers that poison entered when one was bitten, but it is like not having experienced the poison before. Among them, the feeling of being bitten by a mouse is like the eye consciousness experiencing the object. The feeling of being bitten and the poison entering at the same time are like the experience of grasping the object and the subject that exists at the same time. At that time, the subject does not experience itself, just like not experiencing the poison when bitten. Later, recalling the feeling of being bitten is like recalling the experience of the object. Merely by recalling the experience of the object, even if the previous subject did not experience itself, it can be recalled, just as merely by recalling the feeling of being bitten, one can recall the poison that entered earlier but was not experienced. This is an excellent reasoning for the arising of memory without self-awareness, which seems to have been made by a wise person, but the commentators on the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra do not seem to fully understand it. This usually refers to the later memory of consciousness being unreasonable, because the previous consciousness

Because that itself does not experience itself. Thus, the answer of non-pervasion is given. Therefore, the view of the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra is not to negate self-awareness in conventional truth, which is definitely not the view of the great Bodhisattva. The third has two parts: refuting the debate of direct perception प्रमाण with others and inference अनुमान, and refuting the debate of other consciousnesses. First, then, according to our own system, it must be admitted that all cognitions such as the blue apprehension are existent. If so, by what will the existence of this be known? It is not permissible to say that it exists even without being apprehended. Just as it is said to others, it will also become a fault for oneself. If the blue apprehension itself knows that it exists, then self-awareness must be admitted, and it is also unreasonable for consciousness to be cognized by another object. If so, this seems to be a very difficult point, so it should be explained. It is easier to understand if it is explained by taking the manner of remembering objects and subjects as an example. In that case, the object is remembered by the very act of remembering the object, just as there is no need to separately remember the subject. Like the object of blue apprehension, the establishment of the object blue itself establishes the measure of blue. There is no need for a way of establishing the measure of blue other than the way of establishing the object blue. That is also because the blue casts its own likeness передавать onto the blue apprehension, and the appearance itself is similar to other systems. However, the difference is that when the blue apprehension is established, it is established through the self-awareness that experiences the independent grasping aspect स्वतंत्र free from dualistic appearance. Other systems consider this to be the same for all consciousnesses. Here, as stated in the Madhyamakahṛdaya and the Two Truths Root Commentary, it is considered impossible to have such an independent grasping aspect स्वतंत्र. Therefore, it is not established by the self-awareness that experiences it, but the blue apprehension is established by the very establishment of the blue. For example, the object is remembered by the very act of remembering the object, just as the subject itself does not arise from the power of experience as others think. The reason why it must be done that way is also stated in the Clear Words: Because the entry of the number of प्रमाण is the freedom of the object दूसरे, and the प्रमाण that find their own nature merely by following the appearance of the object are for establishing their own nature. It is clearly stated. The meaning of those is that the determination of प्रमाण as two, the object as two
