Although they are considered correct or true based on their own ideas, they do not exist in conventional terms. If, because one does not accept the correct conventional truth, one does not divide it into correct and incorrect, then why are the objects and subjects that are defiled by ignorance not established as incorrect conventional truths? If it is said that conventional truth must be established by the measure of convention, and even if it is established as an incorrect conventional truth, it must be established in reliance on it, then the delusion defiled by the habits of ignorance cannot be established by the measure of convention. Fourthly, now, in order to give a general indication of the confusion of the object of attachment by the harm of the mind that has already been described, it is explained because it is indicated by way of giving specific examples. The heretics whose minds are deeply disturbed by the sleep of ignorance have perverse and evil tenets in their minds, and these have the harm of seemingly valid reasons. Because they want to enter Suchness, they grasp without perversion the birth and death, etc., which are known even to immature beings, even cowherds and women, etc. Because they want to be more excellent than worldly people, like climbing a tree and letting go of the previous branch without grasping the next one, they will fall into the valley of evil views with great downfall, and because they are separated from seeing the two truths well, they will not obtain the fruit of liberation. Therefore, the nature that appears in the respective doctrines of these heretics, such as the observation of the three qualities, etc., as they are, does not exist even in the conventional truth of the world. This well prevents the claim that it exists in conventional truth because it exists in the presence of someone whose mind is confused by this reasoning. Similarly, the observation of horses, cattle, water, and appearances, etc., made on illusions, mirages, and images, etc., is also not something that exists in the conventional truth of the world. Thus, things that exist in name must be established by measure. Such objects of attachment do not exist even in name, but they are not considered to be so in the realm of appearance. Now, the five, such as form and sound, appear to the sense consciousness as being established by their own characteristics. Because that consciousness is defiled by ignorance, that consciousness, as well as the sense consciousnesses in which images and rocks, etc., appear.
