As explained. If these two, this (referring to this text) and the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life," are explained in harmony, then from that very text: Conventional and ultimate, these are considered the two truths. The ultimate is not the object of the mind, the mind is said to be conventional. How should this statement be explained? In that regard, the first two lines indicate the distinction between the two truths. When identifying the nature of each division, the identification of the ultimate truth is: with the word "ultimate," and the identification of the conventional truth is shown with the word "conventional." The earlier line asserts that the ultimate truth is not the object of the mind, and the later line intends to prove it, but it does not appear at all in the meaning of those texts. Therefore, this identification of the two truths is quoted from the "Meeting of Father and Son, Compendium of Trainings," which says: For the conventional, the Tathagata observes according to the practices of the world. What is the ultimate? That is inexpressible, not to be known, not to be distinguished, not to be fully known, not indicated. Etc., the meaning of what is said is placed in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life." In that regard, the meaning of saying that the ultimate truth is not to be known is that, as the meaning of quoting the Sutra on Entering the Two Truths will be explained below, it does not become the object of the mind. If it is not established in this way, if it is not the object of any mind, then it contradicts the statement that the Victorious Ones have directly realized all that has the aspect of conventional and ultimate emptiness, and are therefore established as omniscient, and it will be explained many times below. The identification of the conventional truth is not to establish it as merely the mind, but it is the object of the mind, and also, as it is said, "according to the practices of the world," the world, that is to say, in the practices of measuring false conventional knowledge, that is, it can be found in the object of practice, therefore, the meaning of considering the object of the mind as conventional should be understood in that way. Dividing the knowable into two truths is, indicating that the knowable is definitely numbered as these two. The scriptural authority for this is the "Meeting of Father and Son" quoted earlier, and also from the "Samadhi of the Noble One, Ascertaining Reality," it says: Whatever is conventional is likewise ultimate, there is no third truth. This is clearly stated, and in the self-commentary it also says: Similarly, the trut

Whatever other slight thing exists, it must be determined to belong only to the category of the two truths. As the Daśabhūmika-sūtra says, all the many statements named "truth" are included in the two truths. Since the truth that is understood by dividing, as explained there, is explained in the arrangement of the aggregates, elements, and sense-fields, this teacher also considers the number of truths to be definitely two. The reason is that if a basis is completely determined to be false, in the sense of deceiving, then it is necessary to distinguish the non-deceptive suchness. Therefore, deceiving and not deceiving are mutually exclusive contradictories. If that is the case, then it pervades all knowable things, so it eliminates the three categories of two and not two, as in the Madhyamaka-āloka: "Those characteristics of phenomena that exist by mutually excluding each other, if one is known, and the other is not established by negation, then it does not exist. Therefore, it is not reasonable to conceive of a side that is neither both." And: "Those two, if there is no complete determination and no distinction, are the nature of existing by mutually excluding each other. Those that are the nature of existing by mutually excluding each other are those that pervade all aspects. Those that pervade all aspects are those that eliminate other aggregates, like the distinction between sentient and non-sentient beings." As it is said, this should also be understood for all other contradictions. If there is no way to show a contradiction that eliminates the three categories, then there is no place to stop after making a judgment between two extremes, saying whatever you want, existence or non-existence, or one and many, etc. If it exists, then negating one contradiction, if the other is not established, it will not exist. Therefore, saying that the Madhyamaka-prāsaṅgika has no contradiction is because the system of refutation and establishment has not been established. Distinguishing one contradiction is completely determining the other, and negating one requires establishing the other, there is no difference between the Svātantrika and Prāsaṅgika. Third, in the relative truth, from the two aspects of object and subject, first, in relation to the consciousness of worldly people, showing the subject as two, correct and incorrect, is not only dividing the knowable into two truths, but also for the subject that sees falsehood, there are two, correct and incorrect.
