Furthermore, it is because of seeing or not seeing the absence of inherent existence, that is, the absence of arising. Because the destructive view of clinging to self through causes is exhausted, the cycle of samsara ceases. After that, after determining that the skandhas, dhatus, etc., are without inherent existence, in this way, just as it is, after knowing that beings are without meaning, like a fire without cause, one passes into nirvana without a place or taking. Thus, it is said that one attains nirvana by seeing the meaning of suchness. If you say that such seeing is only within the power of a Bodhisattva, then it is said that it is spoken in the power of a Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha. At the very end of the word nirvana, it is said: 'Thus, even a Bodhisattva, having seen, definitely desires to attain enlightenment. However, that one, with compassion, connects the boundary of existence until enlightenment.' For the reason that it is said and so on. The verses of the Ratnavali quoted in the commentary are not well translated in the early translation. Also, in the Sutra shown to the Shravakas, it is said: 'In order to abandon the obscurations of the Shravakas, form is like a bubble, feeling is like a water bubble, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a plantain tree, consciousness is like an illusion.' The friend of the sun (Buddha) has commanded. Thus, with five examples, the compounded things are analyzed as being without inherent existence. In the Bodhicittavivarana, it is said that the Teacher explained the five skandhas to the Shravakas and the five things such as form being like a bubble to the Bodhisattvas, which is a distinction. For a while, it is intended for the Shravakas who cannot realize suchness, but not for all Shravakas. In that very text, it is said: 'Those who do not know emptiness, those are not the support of liberation. In the prison of the six realms of existence, those ignorant ones will wander in samsara.' Because it is said. In the Vinaya Pitaka of the Hinayana, this very meaning of the non-inherent existence of phenomena is shown. In the Ratnavali, it is said: 'In the Mahayana, non-arising is taught. The exhaustion of others is emptiness. Exhaustion and non-arising are the same in meaning. Therefore, you should be patient.' Thus, in the Sutras of the Mahayana, it is said that non-inherent arising is emptiness, and when emptiness is taught in the Sutras of the other Hinayana, emptiness is shown by the exhaustion of compounded things.

Therefore, the two teachers' intentions are the same, (Buddha) said not to be intolerant of the Mahayana scriptures expounding emptiness. Regarding the view that these two have the same intention, some say: If the Shravakas admit that things are exhausted, then if there is self-nature, exhaustion is unreasonable. If exhaustion is admitted, then it must be admitted from the beginning that there is no self-nature, so these two have the same intention. This explanation is very unreasonable. If that were the case, for the sprouts and other dharmas that the Madhyamikas admit to exist, because there is the same reason, all the sprouts and other things and emptiness would become too much the same. In the commentary on the Ratnavali, "no birth" and "there is no difference in meaning between moments" are also explanations that do not understand the meaning of the scriptures. In the Hinayana sutra quoted in the commentary on the Sixty Reasoning Treatise, it says: "Whoever has completely abandoned this suffering, completely abandoned, become pure, exhausted, free from desire, ceased, near to peace, disappeared, does not connect the boundary of other suffering, does not arise or cease, this is peace, this is excellent, like this, completely abandoned all aggregates, existence is exhausted, free from desire, ceased, nirvana." Thus it is said. In explaining its meaning, because it is said with the near word "this suffering", is it only referring to the suffering or aggregates of the present self-continuum? Or is it referring to the future suffering from complete abandonment to disappearance, and from not connecting the boundary of other suffering to nirvana? If it is thought that the difference between these two "this suffering" or "this aggregate" is that one is a general term for afflictions and the other is a specific term, that is also not possible. Because a general term cannot be explained as a general meaning, it must be explained as a specific meaning. However, here it can be explained from the level of a general term. If that is done, like the Vaibhashikas, as the Uttaratantra says, "afflictions are exhausted from the beginning", because the aggregates are not self-natured from the beginning, so it cannot be explained as exhausted from the beginning. If it must be explained as completely abandoned through the path, then when there is nirvana to be manifested, there is no manifester.
