Returning to the point. Therefore, in this system that posits the apprehension of reality as an obscuration to knowledge, the system that divides the obscuration to knowledge into nine categories—small, medium, and large—does not accept the framework of abandoning them through the nine paths of cultivation, starting from the second ground. This will be explained further. The second point is also unreasonable, namely, what is called "Trekchö," which is also referred to as "Srelzhi" in the old translations, meaning a confusion of order. Here, there is no valid reason to say that entering samadhi through this method is absent in the first six bhumis and present from the seventh bhumi onwards. The third point is also unreasonable. Regarding the reason for overcoming or not overcoming with realization in the first six bhumis and the seventh bhumi, it is like presenting the point of contention as evidence because the doubt has not yet been resolved. The commentary states that in the seventh bhumi, there is the thought, "I shall enter the path," and therefore it involves effort. Because the characteristics of the Dharma, such as the Sutras, are not made manifest, the path of no characteristics is attained. It is said that the first six bhumis and the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas do not have this absence of characteristics, and therefore they are overcome by wisdom. However, in this case, it seems necessary to differentiate based on the realization of suchness itself. That is, it is through the means of entering and emerging from the ultimate reality of suchness. As explained in the context of the seventh bhumi, the ability to enter and emerge from the cessation of true reality with each moment of mind is possible from this bhumi onwards, but not in the lower bhumis. As my venerable guru said, this is excellent. In the stage of aspiration, it is not difficult to briefly enter and emerge from the samadhi of emptiness where the mind and suchness have not become one. However, in the case of the noble ones, where the mind and suchness have become like water poured into water, the manner of entering and emerging is extremely difficult. If one thinks that it is inappropriate to explain in the chapter on the qualities of the first bhumi that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are overcome by wisdom in the seventh bhumi, there is no fault of misplaced order. This explanation of the first bhumi and so on is based on the Daśabhūmika Sūtra. In that sutra, it is clearly explained that those who abide in the first bhumi overcome the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas with conventional bodhicitta, but not with ultimate bodhicitta. At that time, the doubt arises as to from which bhumi one overcomes with realization.

In order to eliminate birth, the statement that from the seventh ground onwards, realization can overwhelm (other practitioners). This is also quoted in this text, so it should be known that this is very timely. The third part has three points: demonstrating that the bodhisattvas of the tenth ground have the realization that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not have the self-nature of phenomena; demonstrating the source of this proof; and refuting disputes about such demonstrations. The first part has two points: clearly explaining the commentator's intention; and also demonstrating this in the system of the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life." The first point is: From the sutra of the ten grounds, in the quote that the realization below the sixth ground cannot overwhelm the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, it is clearly affirmed that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers also have the knowledge of the absence of self-nature of phenomena. If those two do not have that wisdom, just like the worldly path has the form of quiescence and coarseness, like the hermits who are free from desire on the grounds other than the peak of existence, those Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats, even if they generate the first mind of ultimate truth, will be overwhelmed by realization, because they lack the knowledge of the absence of self-nature of things. Just like the outsiders, it is said that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers also cannot abandon all the afflictions and their seeds that are practiced in the three realms, which shows that if one does not realize emptiness well and become accustomed to it, one cannot exhaust the seeds of afflictions, which is similar to the worldly path having the form of quiescence and coarseness. If separated from the wisdom of realizing suchness, because of clinging to the aggregates of form, etc., as true, the mind is perverted, so one cannot realize the complete characteristic of the absence of self of a person, because one has not destroyed the basis of clinging to self and person, which is the object of clinging to the aggregates as true. This shows that if one does not destroy the object of clinging to the aggregates as true, then the object of clinging to the person (pudgala) as true will also not be destroyed, therefore, because one has not realized the absence of self of a person, one has not realized the complete characteristic of the absence of self of a person. Like this, the meaning of those previously stated is very difficult to understand, and it seems that those who rely on this system and Shantideva's writings have not explained it well, therefore, if one determines the way in which doubts arise about this conclusion and the way to eliminate those doubts, then, if any
