If there is no rope, then the illusion of having reasons such as a vase, just as it does not arise in the direction of the sky where there is no earth, etc. If there is no external object, then what kind of cause would the illusion of perceiving blue, etc., as external objects have? Therefore, without a doubt, it must be admitted that the cause of the illusion of external objects is the impure other-powered nature that appears as two different entities, the grasper and the grasped. Because the basis of appearance itself is the cause of both bondage and liberation. According to the views of both Madhyamaka and Mind-Only schools, it appears to sentient beings in this way, and if there is a basis for clinging to what appears as true, revealing that the object of clinging is empty, then realizing emptiness becomes the path. If not, but sentient beings self-righteously refute the object of clinging as empty, then realizing emptiness does not become the path, but instead truly establishes another emptiness, then it will not become an antidote to any of the subtle or coarse clinging to reality that has existed since beginningless time, so it is just a fruitless effort. Thus, on the other-powered nature that appears as dualistic, just as the grasper and the grasped appear as different entities, if there is no imputed object of clinging that is clung to as existing, then the basis is truly seen as empty of that which is to be negated. And whichever of the basis of emptiness and emptiness remains here, then it is truly existing here. By thoroughly understanding exactly as it is, one will also be able to grasp the meaning of emptiness well. Here, the previous view is the explanation of the Ornament of Clear Realization and the Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes, which explains the meaning of "what is not in what" etc. as before. But in the explanation of the Treatise on the Buddha-Nature, explaining the meaning of "what is not in what", etc., is completely different from the previous two, and is the way of explaining the Madhyamaka school, but because there is too much content, I was afraid and did not write it. The other-powered nature arises only from one's own habitual tendencies, without the grasped external object. And self-existence and according to the ultimate truth of this school, it has the nature of not being the object of all verbal and conceptual proliferation. Because what is expressed internally and externally holds the image that has not been truly examined. In short, the other-powered nature has three distinctions: it arises without an external object.

and existing by its own nature, and in the ultimate truth, it is not the object of all elaborations. The cause that can be examined belongs to the category of things that exist by their own nature, therefore it is no different from these three distinctions. The so-called "other-powered existence" is not merely existence, but a special existence. As Master Luozhen said: "The unreal is all conceptual." Here, "own nature" is the remainder of the sentence. As it is said, therefore this distinction is very important after it is determined. The second part is divided into two points: elaborately stating the refutation, and summarizing the conclusion of such refutation. The first part is divided into three points: refuting the example of the establishment of consciousness without external objects by its own nature, refuting the meaning of the arising of consciousness empty of meaning from the power of habit, and explaining that such refutation and the practice of contemplating ugliness are not contradictory. The first part is divided into two points: refuting the example of dreams, and refuting the example of seeing hairs. The first part is divided into three points: the example of dreams does not establish the existence of consciousness by its own nature, the example of dreams does not establish the absence of external objects in the waking state, and the example of dreams establishes that all things are false. The first point is: Mind-only proponents, you believe that there are no external objects, and that there exists a mind established by its own characteristics, for example, like this, where is this example? This should be examined. The Mind-only proponent says: For example, sleeping in a very small room, because of falling asleep, dreaming of a herd of drunken elephants, these elephants are not in that room in any way. Therefore, just like a dream, in the absence of external objects, it is necessary to acknowledge the consciousness established by its own nature. The answer is: in order to show that this is also meaningless, It is explained: This example should be considered here, that is, examined. What else should be examined? When in a dream, the mind with the image of a herd of drunken elephants is established by its own characteristics, just like there are no external elephants, it does not exist in my system, because it has not arisen. If consciousness is not established by its own characteristics, then at that time your example established by both sides does not exist, therefore there is no external object, and consciousness does not exist. Here, what appears in the dream
