Thus it is said. This is for those who cling to an independently existing substantial person, without denying their request, but saying that there is a person who bears responsibility. Although not explicitly in the words, the meaning is substantial. Also, for some beings to be tamed, only the aggregates that are not substantial persons are shown. What is called mind, or what is called intellect, or what is called consciousness, is that which has been completely accustomed to faith and discipline for a long time, and going upwards, in the next life will go to the heavens. This is what is said. This is also for those who cling to the way of going to the heavens and liberation as true. How much should be acknowledged? Without obstructing their clinging to truth, just showing that it is just aggregates, in effect, shows that the aggregates are true. All of these are spoken according to intention. Here, if asked, according to which beings to be tamed is it spoken? The answer is: Showing that the Alaya consciousness exists, the person himself is substantial, these aggregates are only, only these are true. As previously said, for those beings to be tamed who cannot understand such profound meaning for the time being, it is spoken according to them. Some beings to be tamed have long been accustomed to the views of non-Buddhists, and cannot enter the profound nature of reality. As the Ratnavali says: 'Self exists, not non-existent, existent, not non-self. Children are afraid like that.' As it is said, if the nature of reality is shown at the beginning, they will be afraid, thinking that the Buddha's teachings are like a cliff, turning their backs on the teachings and not entering, therefore they will not accomplish great things. For them, without showing the profound ultimate state at the very beginning, but showing the Alaya consciousness and the aggregates are true, etc., relying on these, the views of non-Buddhists can be eliminated. Thus leading them to accomplish great things, and later those who are good at understanding the meaning of the scriptures will themselves abandon clinging to the existence of Alaya consciousness, etc. Therefore, showing in this way only brings merit and not faults. Considering such a sequence, in the Shatashastra it says: 'Whoever is happy with what'

Ba. That of that was used before. It is definitely not a vessel for the sacred Dharma that has become damaged. So it is said. Regarding the need to explain the ālaya-vijñāna, which is different in nature from the six aggregates, since it is necessary to refute external objects, it is only suitable as a vessel for the suchness that is empty of the duality of grasper and grasped. Even if the ālaya-vijñāna as previously explained is not accepted, the relationship of cause and effect cannot be established. Therefore, it is said that it does not become proficient in the most profound meaning. Secondly, in many scriptures such as the Hundred Thousand Prajñāpāramitā, the number of consciousnesses is shown. There are many sutras that only explain the six aggregates of consciousness and do not explain more than that. Just as the two ways of establishing or not establishing the ālaya-vijñāna from the sutras were taught, Lord Maitreya also explained the meaning of these. In the Madhyāntavibhāga, the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, and the Dharmadharmatāvibhāga, the ālaya-vijñāna is established and the aspect of no external objects is explained. In the Abhisamayālaṃkāra and the Ratnagotravibhāga, the ālaya-vijñāna is not established and the aspect of not refuting external objects is explained. The great teacher Asaṅga also did not explain the intention of the Ratnagotravibhāga as the view of the Vijñānavāda school, but explained it as the view of the Madhyamaka school. In the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, the Dharma of the Abhidharma Sutra, which was cited as proof of the ālaya-vijñāna, in the explanation of the Ratnagotravibhāga, it is said: Sentient beings have the essence of the Tathāgatagarbha, but these sentient beings do not know it. So it is said. Therefore, it is said: The realm of beginningless time is the place of all dharmas. Because it exists, all beings and nirvāṇa can be attained. Because the proof that sentient beings have the lineage of dharmatā is cited, this teacher's explanation of the intention of the ālaya-vijñāna as emptiness is consistent. Therefore, he believes that for the sake of some disciples, the ālaya-vijñāna, which is different in nature from the six aggregates, was spoken out of necessity. Then, in the Bodhicittavivaraṇa: Just as when a magnet is near, iron quickly turns around, but it has no mind, yet it appears to have a mind. Similarly, the ālaya-vijñāna is not true, but like the truth, whenever it moves back and forth, at that time it holds existence.
