Now, from the state of peace, taking "cessation" as the object, such as the objects of sprouts and their destruction, both of these are conditioned phenomena. Just as the cause, like oil, is exhausted, it is said to be the cause of the exhaustion of the result, like a candle. Therefore, it should be considered that this is undoubtedly the view of the noble ones. The first moment being destroyed in the second moment must be realized by actually cutting off the object to be refuted. Therefore, negation is affirmation, and non-negation is not non-negation, because it is non-negation. The cause of destruction is not merely cutting off, but because it throws away the object that has been cut off. The remaining proof can be learned in detail from the commentary on the Root Wisdom Treatise. This seems to be a subtle and meaningful reason in this system. Secondly, even if one does not accept the Alaya consciousness, one must accept the establishment of the imprints of virtue and non-virtue, and that the fruit arises from the maturation of those imprints. As it says in the Commentary on Entering the Middle Way: "In beginningless samsara, the imprints of objects are fully matured, appearing manifestly to objects." And there are many other such occurrences. Moreover, it is not permissible to establish imprints without a basis. So, what is that basis? Just as those who accept the Alaya consciousness consider the Alaya consciousness, which is the object of the afflicted mind's grasping at "I," to be the place of imprints, similarly, this system also considers the object of the co-emergent mind that merely grasps at "I" itself to be the basis for the establishment of imprints. So, how is it that the Commentary on Entering the Middle Way says that "the continuum of mind is the basis of imprints"? Because merely the "I" itself is a continuum imputed in dependence on the mind consciousness, it can also be called the continuum of mind. Just as the similar kind of mind itself is called its continuum, that also sometimes becomes the basis for the establishment of imprints. The nature of the imprint of ignorance is, as it says in the Commentary on Entering the Middle Way: "Whatever pollutes and establishes the continuum of mind, and follows after it, is an imprint. The ultimate of afflictions, habituation, root, and imprint are all synonyms." Even if afflictions are abandoned by the uncontaminated path, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas cannot abandon them, just as after sesame oil and flowers, etc., have been removed, the vase and woolen cloth

Just as encountering lotuses and the like allows one to discern subtle qualities, so it is said. For other habitual tendencies, such as those of virtue and non-virtue, how they can reasonably transform into two bases should be understood analogously. Now, at the time of the path of seeing's uninterrupted path, although there is no abandonable of the path of seeing to be abandoned, there must be latent tendencies to be abandoned by cultivation. At that time, since the consciousness of mind is uncorrupted by the habitual tendencies of dualistic appearance and delusion, it is not reasonable for that latency to abide in its essence. Moreover, sense consciousness is not its support, nor is form its support, and since the alaya consciousness is not accepted, it would become without support. If one thinks this way, there is no fault, because at that time, just the 'I' is the support of the latency to be abandoned by cultivation. For other abandonments and antidotes, it should be understood similarly. If one understands the unique way of establishing individuals in this system, then in the continuum of noble ones born in the three realms of the formless realm—the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, and the sphere of nothingness—when the supramundane, uncontaminated mind manifests, since there is no other mundane mind, their activities will cease. So it is said. For a noble one born at the peak of existence, when the uncontaminated mind belonging to the sphere of nothingness manifests, the activities included in both the peak of existence and the sphere of nothingness will cease, because the place of that uncontaminated mind is incompatible with those two activities and with the activities beyond suffering. The reasoning stated in this way also clearly does not harm, because even if neither contaminated nor uncontaminated minds are established as the basis for those activities, it is sufficient to establish the activities alone. The view of the former side is that the nature of the activities of those who have not entered the path and those who are still learning is treated as obscured and unspecified. These answers are not something that someone like me could express on my own power regarding the great systems. However, they are spoken based on the systems of the great chariots who are able to perfectly establish the intention of the Protector Nagarjuna as it is. Considering these, it is clear that the remaining reasons for establishing the alaya consciousness also do not harm this system, and those with great intelligence, detail, and sharpness should investigate. Second, the result arises from the cessation of the previous
