To show fear, it is said, quoting the Root Wisdom: "Because karma does not arise, therefore it has no self-nature. Because it is unborn, therefore it does not perish." Because karma is not established by its own nature, it is not born by its own entity. Therefore, it is impossible for karma to cease by its own nature. It is not reasonable to think that karma, after being done, ceases and is considered to be established by its own nature, and therefore it is not wasted. This is its meaning. Although this reasoning is said to prevent non-destruction, there is no difference in preventing the other three (permanent, pleasant, self), because the reasons are all the same. Furthermore, the sutra says: "The life span of a person is one hundred years, although it is said to live that long, years do not pile up in heaps. This proof is also the same. What is said to be inexhaustible, and what is said to be the exhaustion of karma, is not exhausted in terms of emptiness, but is shown to be exhausted in terms of convention." Quoting this, it shows that there is no exhaustion or cessation established by its own nature, and that both are based on the establishment of terms. In the translation of Naktsö, it says: "Years do not pile up in heaps, just as there is nothing, this assembly should also be viewed in this way." These are all said on top of adding the distinction of "not ceasing by its own nature" to the object to be refuted. The third part has two points: The way in which cessation, which is not established by its own nature, becomes the reason for not accepting the all-ground consciousness, and not accepting the all-ground consciousness, but establishing the basis of habitual patterns. The first point is: If there is no cessation established by its own nature, but in one's own system it is sometimes said that "karma has ceased," and "ceased and is not self-existent." As it is said, "It is shown to be exhausted in terms of convention," it must be admitted that after karma is done, that karma has ceased. At that time, cessation is not real, and if the all-ground consciousness, etc., which is the basis of the connection between karma and result, is not accepted, then if it is argued that it is unreasonable for the result to arise after a long time has passed since the cessation of karma, because the seed remains. If it is said that the previous answers are not satisfactory, then there is no fault. Because the reason itself, "Because it does not cease by its own nature, therefore..." establishes the later result from the destruction of the destruction of karma, so no separate answer is given. That is to say, things are established by their own nature.

Among all the assertions, the key point of the Madhyamaka school, which asserts that destruction is not real and that self-nature is not established, is that destruction is established as real. The first view is that when something like a sprout is destroyed, all the component parts of the sprout disappear. Since no other thing, such as a vase other than the sprout, is obtained, it is thought that destruction is not a thing at all. Because each of the aggregates, such as blue, and the collection of things that are its own components, such as a vase, cannot be the basis of destruction, it is thought that it is not a thing. The latter view is that, for example, each of the five aggregates of clinging, and the collection, and one that is different in entity from these two, cannot be established as the basis of clinging. Clinging also cannot be the basis of these three. Just as it is not contradictory that a thing that is imputed as clinging in dependence on its own aggregates is a thing, so too is destruction, although there is no basis for the thing to be destroyed, and no thing similar to it, it is a thing because it arises in dependence on the thing to be destroyed. To prove this, both scriptural and logical arguments are explained in the Prasannapadā, the first of which is: The Daśabhūmika Sūtra says: "Old age and death are due to the cause of birth." Death is the destruction of the sentient being that has died. The sutra says that this is produced by the cause of birth. Also, in the same sutra, it says: "Death also abides in two actions, namely, it also performs the act of destruction, and it also produces the cause of the continuous stream of complete ignorance." The sutra says that death performs two actions, namely, death acts as a cause, and death also produces ignorance. Therefore, destruction has a cause for arising, and destruction is able to produce a result. Although this is continuous destruction, it is the same as the destruction of the first moment in the second time. It also shows the cause of the destruction of the first moment in the second time. Therefore, the birth and death of sentient beings, and those who do not abide in the second moment, and those who do not abide in the second moment, are completely the same in terms of whether or not they are established as things, and whether or not they are produced by a cause. Considering this, the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā says: "The existent and the non-existent are conditioned." And the Yuktiṣaṣṭikā also says: "The cause is exhausted."
