It must be assumed so. If so, then it must be assumed that through that path, the co-emergent self-grasping must also be abandoned from the path of cultivation. If so, then do the Madhyamikas who hold that things are established by their own nature also hold that there are two types of self-grasping of phenomena, afflicted and non-afflicted? Although there is no clear explanation on this point, the Svatantrikas believe that when Hearers and Solitary Realizers cultivate the path in that way, although they may temporarily abandon the manifest self-grasping of phenomena, without the help of accumulating infinite collections, the seeds of either of the two self-graspings of phenomena cannot be abandoned. Therefore, it must be said that Hearers and Solitary Realizers may be able to temporarily abandon the manifest obscurations of knowledge, but it is impossible to abandon the seeds. This teacher believes that the self-grasping of phenomena is an affliction, so abandoning its seeds does not require the help of accumulating infinite collections, but for purifying the obscurations of knowledge, which are the imprints of dualistic delusion, it is believed that it is impossible to purify them without such help. If you understand what was said earlier, you will find that the difference is very large, so I have explained it. Secondly, in the school that does not accept that things are established by their own nature, if you do not accept the alaya consciousness, etc., how can the relationship between karma and its result be established? For virtuous and non-virtuous actions, even if there is a long interval between the action and its result, the result of happiness and suffering, etc., will arise, and all of our upper and lower schools accept this. If the action remains until before it produces the result, then it will become permanent, and since a permanent thing cannot function, the relationship between the action and the production of the result is not established. If the action is destroyed in the second moment after it is done, then from that time until before the actual production of the result, the action no longer exists, and the destroyed action also does not exist, so how can the action produce the result? In order to answer this question, some people imagine that in order to establish the power of the action, when the action before it is destroyed in the second moment of doing the action tends to be destroyed, they imagine that there is an alaya consciousness. Others believe that there is a non-associated formation that is different from the two actions and similar to a debt certificate, which is called non-wasting.

Some people think that the so-called "attainment of two karmas" refers to something that is different from the two (karma and attainment) and is not corresponding. Some people think that the continuum of consciousness is influenced by the habits of karma, so even if the karma has ceased, it is not contradictory for the karma to produce results after a long time. Because karma leaves habits on the alaya consciousness, the habits are the result of karma, and the same kind of continuum transmits, and finally produces results, so the result of the initial karma is produced from the continuum. Similarly, the other three situations should also be understood. The first of these is some Mind-Only School people. The second is the Sautrāntika School, which is said by Avalokitaśāntarakṣita, which is different from the Kashmir Sautrāntika School. The third is also one of the Sautrāntika School. The fourth is not clearly stated, but if it is consistent with the ninth chapter of the Abhidharmakośa, then it seems to be the common view of the Sutra School and the Kashmir Sautrāntika School. Although the Kashmiris admit "attainment," they do not think that "attainment" is produced by the two things other than the dharma to be attained, but here it is thought to be so, which is the meaning of "according to whose view." According to the view of the Prasangika Madhyamaka, karma is not produced by itself. According to this view, because the nature of karma is not extinguished, it is not contradictory to produce results from karma whose nature is not extinguished, so even if the alaya consciousness etc. are not admitted, karma can produce results. Therefore, in the continuum of some sentient beings, even if the karma has been done and extinguished, and many kalpas have passed, the karma can produce true results, that is, the cause and effect are not false. In this way, in this view, the relationship between karma and result is very reasonable. The meaning of these is that even if they are questioned by the four debaters as before, they also admit that the arising and ceasing of karma are accomplished by their own characteristics, and they think that the extinguishing after the karma is done is accomplished by nature. In response, this teacher refutes that even if it is such an extinction, it is not a fault to admit the alaya consciousness etc., which is unreasonable, because there is no arising and ceasing of karma in the way of self-nature accomplishment. This is the refutation. This way of answering is itself holy.
