It is for the sake of something arising. It has already been explained in detail elsewhere, so I will not elaborate. In this way, if one examines the conventionalities with the reasoning that investigates suchness, one should know that all worldly terms will disappear. Thirdly, if all attachment to the true appearance of things is cut off in this way, then what is frightening is that the true attachment to the truth of convention, which becomes the cause of liberation from the two graspers (the grasper and the grasped), does one need to make something into a real thing, that is, something that arises from its own nature? If one says so, then for those who say so, only a word will remain. Why? Just as when examining the ultimate truth of suchness, with the reasoning that has been said before, it is unreasonable for form and so on to arise from self and other, similarly, in convention, it is unreasonable for it to arise with the same reasoning. Then, by what valid cognition will your self-nature arise be established? It will not be established. Therefore, the arising of self-nature does not exist in either of the two truths, and even if one is unwilling, one must inevitably admit it. Therefore, the sutra says that with the reasoning that investigates suchness, even in convention, the arising that prevents arising is said to be the arising of the nature of reality in the connection, and the meaning is compared as before, so it is only on the object to be refuted that the difference of arising from self-nature is added, and it is definitely not just arising, because it has been said many times that one cannot use the observation of ultimate truth to observe the meaning of conventional truth. If, with the reasoning that investigates suchness, one does not prevent the arising established by self-nature in convention, then the view is that one does not prevent the arising established in ultimate truth either, because merely being established by self-nature will become truly established, so the view is that for it, adding or not adding "in convention" is the same. In this way, for the object to be refuted, adding the difference of by self-nature, by nature, by self-essence, and so on, what appears in the sutras and the Two Treatises and the treatises of this teacher is limitless. When refuting these, some Madhyamikas as the prior party, as has been said before, also say in the Clear Words, this is as firm as suchness.

One should promise not to eat offerings. If it is not so, isn't the conventional truth in accordance with reason? Therefore, this would become the ultimate truth and not the conventional truth. Like this, it is not enough to merely name it with words, but one must investigate by searching for the meaning of the named object, thereby prohibiting the establishment of the meaning of the name. If that were the case, it would become truly existent, and form, etc., would not become conventional. That is, not admitting that form, etc., are established in the ultimate truth, but rather pointing to establishing them as conventional. Moreover, this is not said to those who assert substantial entities, so it is very clear that it is the Svātantrika Madhyamaka. Here, the teacher says that some people think that the scriptures such as "not from oneself, not from others" spoken by the Blessed One prohibit arising, etc., and that this prohibits the arising, etc., of the imputed nature of the distinct grasping and the grasped, but does not prohibit the dependent nature of truth. This view cannot be established without a reason for explaining it that way. Therefore, for those who say such things, one can only debate and investigate. The proponents of the earlier position who say this are some ancient teachers such as Lodrö Ten, but such a statement is not found in their texts. In the commentary on the Four Hundred Verses, the teacher Dharmapāla says that the view of the Four Hundred Verses is explained as Cittamātra, and it would be appropriate to combine it with that. So, how do those who explain the meaning of the profound sutras as Cittamātra explain the meaning of the Blessed One's scriptures? In the texts of great teachers such as Vasubandhu, although it is not clearly stated that the meaning of Nāgārjuna's texts is explained in this way, in the Explanation of Reasoning, etc., it seems that the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras are explained as provisional meaning based on the sutras of hidden meaning. Therefore, it seems that they are also explained in that way, because it is impossible to negate the scriptures of the Blessed One. If explained according to the literal meaning, one would not fail to explain the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras according to the literal meaning. If the literal meaning is explained as provisional meaning, then its meaning must be explained as Cittamātra. However, all phenomena are not established in the ultimate truth, and what is said not to be established by their own characteristics, these can be established by reasoning just as they are in the literal meaning. Because it does not harm the literal meaning. Considering that it is impossible to explain it as definitive meaning, it is said that one can only debate and investigate.
