From the two (the possessor of an object and the object), firstly, with regard to worldly knowledge, it is shown that the possessor of an object has two types: correct and incorrect. Not only are the knowable things divided into two truths, but also for the possessor of an object who sees falsehood, it is considered to have two types: correct and incorrect. That is, clear sense faculties, i.e., sense faculties that have not been corrupted by temporary causes of delusion, and the knowledge that relies on them; and also sense faculties with defects, i.e., the possessor of an object that has been corrupted by temporary causes of delusion. Among these, the knowledge that is deluded by those with defective sense faculties is considered to be incorrect knowledge in relation to the knowledge that is clear and not corrupted by temporary causes of delusion. The former is considered to apprehend the object as it is, without inversion. However, the difference between these two is also with respect to worldly knowledge that is not of the Madhyamaka school. Just as the possessor of an object is divided into two types, inverted and non-inverted, it is also shown that the object is the same. That is, without the harm of temporary causes of delusion, whatever is apprehended by the knowledge of the six sense faculties, which is understood by the world, is the truth, i.e., the correct, according to the world itself. However, it is not the case that these objects are regarded as true and correct in relation to the noble ones. "Noble ones" and "Madhyamaka school" have the same meaning here. The remainder, such as images, etc., when there is harm to the sense faculties, the object that appears is considered to be incorrect in relation to the world itself. The word "itself" is to show that to judge these knowledge as erroneous, only the conventional measure is sufficient, and there is no need to rely on reason. Among these, the factors that harm the sense faculties internally are cataracts and jaundice, etc., and eating Datura flowers, etc. Datura flower is thorn apple, and if its fruit is eaten, everything will appear as gold. The word "etc." includes epidemics, etc. The external factors that harm the sense faculties are the sounds from mirrors and caves, etc., and the sunlight of summer that is close to sandy areas, etc. Although these are not internal factors that harm the sense faculties, they will become the causes for apprehending images, rock fragments, and mirages as water, etc., respectively. Similarly, what is arranged by magicians, etc...

Also, one should know mantras and medicines, etc. The harms to the mind faculty are those such as mantras and medicines, as well as wrong views, seemingly logical arguments, and the harm of sleep, etc. Sleep is said to be a harm to the mind among the six faculties. Therefore, the statement that this teacher believes that there is sense consciousness in dreams is a great fallacy. Thus, the harm of being defiled by ignorance, such as the two graspings that have arisen from beginningless time, is not taken as a cause of harm here. Rather, the causes of delusion that harm the immediate faculties, as previously explained, are taken. The conventional truth, which is apprehended by the six consciousnesses that are free from such harm, and the opposite of that, are designated as correct and incorrect only in relation to the consciousness of ordinary beings. This is because the consciousness of ordinary beings is either harmed or not harmed by things as they appear to exist. In relation to noble beings, there is no distinction between correct and incorrect, just as images and the like do not exist as they appear. For those who possess ignorance, blue and other things appear to be established by their own nature, but in reality, they do not exist as they appear. Therefore, there is no distinction between delusion and non-delusion for these two consciousnesses. So, since the form faculty has immediate harm, the object appears incorrectly, and since the mind consciousness has the harm of sleep, etc., in dreams, things that appear as people are apprehended as people, etc., and in the waking state, the appearance of illusory horses and elephants is apprehended as horses and elephants, and the appearance of mirages as water is apprehended as water, etc., these are inverted, and even the self-satisfied wisdom of ordinary beings can understand this. However, since the mind has the harm of bad views, the things that are wrongly apprehended are not understood as inverted by the self-satisfied wisdom of ordinary beings. So how can it be established as wrong from the world itself? Here, the harm of examining the presence or absence of harm is not directed at the harm of innate inverted apprehension. What is established by bad views is only the chief and others who are wrongly established by views that have changed the mind. Even though the self-satisfied wisdom of ordinary beings cannot understand these as inverted, for those who have not clearly turned towards suchness...
