Birth is not possible. The other three commitments are also combined in this way. In the Commentary to the Root Verses on the Middle Way, it says, "From myself, whatever things..." This translation is good. Is it like how saffron does not grow in some places due to the influence of the location, and crops do not grow at certain times due to the influence of time? By saying "in any place or time," it is prevented, so saying "ever" is not meaningless. Is it that although it does not arise according to the tenets of the Madhyamikas, it does arise according to the tenets of those who assert entities? By saying "in any tenet," it is prevented, so it is not showing that it does not arise in the system of those who assert entities. In the auto-commentary, it says, "Here, the term 'not' is related to the establishment of existence itself arising from itself, because existence and non-existence, the negation of it, is established in meaning." The meaning of what was said is that, rather than separating the last two lines as the commitment and the first two lines as showing the reason, they should be connected as "arising from myself, existence is not." The other three are also connected in this way. If there is arising by nature, then it is necessary to accept any of the four extremes of arising as its establisher, so it is said to be the establisher of existence. If the four extremes of arising are refuted, then the negation of arising by nature is also established by implication. When combined in this way, there is no fault of not establishing the non-arising of nature, which is the meaning of the last phrase. Therefore, it is not that it is not permissible to establish the non-arising of nature by taking the refutation of the four extremes of arising as the reason, as explained in the Light on the Middle Way, but rather that separating them individually as before is not the meaning of that text. It is not possible for things to arise from others in any place, time, or extreme of established tenets. Combine it in this way. And in the Commentary to the Root Verses on the Middle Way, it also says, "Merely with these conditions, the conventional is accepted as established, but not by way of accepting the four possibilities, because it would follow that things are said to have inherent existence." Thus, other-arising is not a term of the scriptures, but a term of those who assert tenets, and that is also done by thinking of others as established by their own characteristics. If that is accepted, it would follow that one is saying that they have inherent existence. Therefore, in this system, there is not even the term other-arising. The nature of both cause and effect are dif

Although faith is considered a nominal term, it is not merely an exogenous meaning. Just as it is said in nominal terms that each dharma holds two natures, although there is an established nature, it is not like not acknowledging the nature of arising from itself. In the Clear Words, it is said that the vow that things do not arise from themselves is negative, which is the same for the other three vows. In the case of establishing non-inherent existence, what is to be established is the negation of merely cutting off the object to be refuted, as it is said in the Clear Words: "In this world, however many sounds there are, all are unreal and nothing exists." Because actions and so on occur, it is desired to express negation. The meaning of the non-existence of things is the meaning of non-inherent existence. As it is said. The self-commentary says that the four vows are repeated and explained in order to establish them with reasoning. Below, by taking the negation of the four extremes of arising as a reason, it is said that things are separated from arising by their own nature, and in the Clear Words it is also said after negating the four extremes of arising: "Therefore, arising does not exist," which is to be established. Therefore, it is not that one does not acknowledge establishing that things do not arise by their own nature. In the Clear Words, it is said: "Subsequent inferences only have the result of negating the vows of others." This says that the arguments only negate the inherent existence promised by the other party, and do not establish anything else besides that, but it is not that they negate merely establishing negation. Similarly, we do not establish non-existence or existence, but rather negate the existence and non-existence established by others, because we want to eliminate both extremes and establish the Middle Way. What is said here is also merely distinguishing the extreme of existence and the extreme of non-existence promised by the other party, and does not establish anything else besides that. It is not that one does not establish merely negating the two extremes, because it is said that one eliminates the two extremes and establishes the Middle Way. If it is not that there is no inherent existence, then it is because there are no three aggregates that there is inherent existence, because it is said in the Refutation of Disputes: "If because there is no inherent existence, why refute the non-inherent existence? If non-inherent existence itself is overturned, then
