Regarding the recognition of these ten equalities, it seems inconsistent with both the commentary on the Ten Bhumi Sutra and the Yogacarabhumi-sastra. Since the way these two explain emptiness differs from this one, it is explained differently here. Among them, the first is that appearances that seem different, in the samadhi of the noble ones, have no meaning, and all dharmas are the same. The second is that all dharmas are not established by their own nature, but are equal. These two are general explanations. The remaining eight are explanations that differentiate the meaning of the general explanation, that is, unborn refers to the future, uncreated refers to being influenced by other times. That is to say, for all dharmas, equality or sameness, should also be understood for other dharmas. Solitude means being empty of arising and already arisen. That is to say, this is solitude that arises by distinguishing through one's own nature in the case of the second equality. Like this, it is not done immediately through scriptural and logical proofs, but is pure from the beginning and abides in that way, this is the sixth. The seventh, the absence of dualistic proliferation is combined with the first, and for sounds and conceptual thoughts that cannot be proliferated, it is combined with the difference of the second case. The eighth is also combined with this difference in the same way. The ninth is the enumeration of many examples to ascertain the meaning of what was said earlier. The tenth is that for any dharma, whether there are things or no things, they are the same in that they are not established by their own nature. Sharpness means quick wisdom. Conformity means conforming to the non-arising dharma forbearance of the eighth bhumi, and for this conforming forbearance, there are many different manifestations depending on the situation. Although there are many scriptures that explain the suchness of all dharmas, here is the case of explaining how the wisdom of the sixth bhumi realizes suchness, so the statement in the scriptures about the sixth bhumi entering through the ten equalities is quoted. Second, regarding establishing all dharmas as unreal, if one does not understand what the way of truly establishing is, and the way of clinging to truth, then the view of suchness will surely be mistaken. As it says in the Bodhicaryavatara: "If one does not touch the object of examination, one's clinging to its non-existence is not present." This means that if one does not understand the object of examination, that is, the general object to be refuted, then one cannot well understand the non-existence of the object to be refuted. Therefore,

If the true existence of inherent existence, and the object of negation of what is empty, do not appear in the mind as they are, then it is impossible to properly ascertain the nature of non-inherent existence and emptiness. Moreover, it is not enough for a proponent of tenets to merely recognize the imputed true existence and the grasping at truth. Therefore, it is extremely important to properly recognize the coemergent grasping at truth that has been present since beginningless time, whether or not the mind has been transformed by tenets, and the true existence that it grasps. Because, if this is not recognized, even if the object of negation is refuted by reasoning, it will not harm the grasping at truth that has been present since beginningless time, and therefore the point will be lost. Therefore, first one must recognize the grasping at truth in one's own mindstream, and then one must know how to use reasoning in a direct and indirect way to refute its object. Refutation and establishment that only looks outward is of very little benefit. If one can understand the recognition of both the Svatantrika and Prasangika schools of Madhyamaka, one will be able to clearly distinguish the differences. Therefore, explaining it is divided into two parts: the recognition of grasping at truth according to the Svatantrika school, and the recognition of grasping at truth according to the Prasangika school. The first part is divided into three points: the recognition of true existence and grasping at truth, showing it with the example of worldly true and false illusions, and explaining it by applying the example to the meaning. The first point is: In the reliable treatises of the Svatantrikas, a clear recognition of the object of negation does not clearly appear. From the Madhyamakalankara, if one understands that the opposite of existence in the conventional way is existence in the ultimate way, or that it is true existence, then it is explained in that way. From that very text: "That deluded mind which imputes the opposite aspect to things that are truly without essence is called conventional, because it or it acts like obscuring the thusness, like covering it." As it is also said in the sutra: "All phenomena arise conventionally, in the ultimate truth there is no self-nature, the thought that arises from no self-nature, is considered the true conventional." Therefore, because it arises from it, all the false things seen that it indicates are called merely conventional. That is to say, the completely ripened habitual imprints of beginningless delusion.
