Even though I have heard the teachings of the Teacher, I will have great meaninglessness because I have the thought of entering wrongly into emptiness. The way to become great meaninglessness is: sometimes unwise people abandon emptiness and go to bad destinies. Sometimes, the meaning of emptiness, which is not established by nature, is wrongly understood as these things do not exist and are not real, and thus, the wrong view of slandering all cause-and-effect things is first generated, and then it is not abandoned, but it is made to increase more and more. If one views emptiness wrongly, those with little wisdom will be destroyed. Just as a snake is wrongly grasped, and a mantra is wrongly performed. In the commentary 'Clear Words' on this, it is also said that in order not to fall into the extreme of slandering the conventional, it is necessary not to harm the results of actions that are like images, and in order not to fall into the extreme of clinging to the ultimate, it is necessary to see the results of actions only in things that are without self-nature. It is said that the opposite of these two will lead to falling into the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and it is said that if one thinks that conditioned things are not real, then one is viewing wrongly. Therefore, although there is a difference in words between 'non-existence' and 'not real', there is no difference even if one pays close attention to the appearance of non-existence. In the Four Hundred Verses, it says, 'One goes only to bad destinies, not to ordinary peace.' In the commentary on this, it says that whoever is not a noble person who hears the Dharma of selflessness, due to abandoning and misunderstanding, goes only to bad destinies. Here it is said that both go to bad destinies, and misunderstanding is to hold the meaning of emptiness as the meaning of not being real. Therefore, without the power of intelligence to distinguish extremely subtle meanings, an arrogant person who appears to be real, pretending to strongly believe in the words of profound meaning that do not suit his faculties, this will lead to great meaninglessness, so these places should be studied deeply. Also, how is it appropriate to show emptiness to this person? How can one determine this difficult question of whether or not to show emptiness to this person? That is, it can be determined by external signs, and now it will be explained how to determine it: for ordinary people.

Even in the very beginning, when hearing the undeluded words of emptiness, from the moment of hearing that, great joy arises in the heart again and again towards that word, and tears arising from that great joy moisten the eyes, and the hairs of the body stand on end, whoever has these phenomena, has the seed of the wisdom of the fully enlightened Buddha, the seed of non-conceptual wisdom, which is the seed of realizing emptiness. Only in this way, is that person the vessel to be taught by the wise teacher. The truth of the noble meaning, which has characteristics, should be taught to that person. This is because hearing the undeluded words of emptiness, and not misunderstanding it, when these two come together and those signs appear on the body, then that sign will not be mistaken. If the meaning is not understood, or even if it is understood, those signs do not arise, then for the time being, it cannot be determined to be a vessel for the profound Dharma. But if one does not stray from the instructions of the holy guru, then one can become a vessel for newly placing many potentials for realizing emptiness. The third point is that, for the listener mentioned earlier, teaching emptiness will not be without result. Why is that? Because, for such a listener, not only will they not have the meaning produced by the inverted clinging to emptiness, but after hearing the view of emptiness, the qualities of the resulting fruit will also arise. How does it arise? The one with the vessel thinks that hearing the view of emptiness is like finding a treasure, and in order to prevent that view from deteriorating in future lives, they will always take vows of morality and abide in them. That is, if I fall into the lower realms because of the broken vows of morality, then the view of emptiness will naturally be interrupted, thinking in this way, they will take vows of morality and protect them without letting them deteriorate. For those who have broken their vows, there is no need to take vows beforehand, and the naturally negative actions that are contrary to morality are also a breach of vows. Even if one is born in a good rebirth by keeping the vows, but if one becomes poor and lacks the necessities of life such as food, drink, medicine, and clothing, then one will focus on finding these, which will lead to the interruption of listening to the view of emptiness and meditating on its meaning.
