Furthermore, I also rely on the conventional truth, that is, only on the basis of nominal establishment, to say that it is unconditioned and does not depend on others. Any dharma-nature that should not be observed by childish beings in a self-satisfied way is reasonable in its own nature. Just because it is admitted to exist in the conventional truth, it does not therefore become inherently existent as real or unreal in the ultimate truth, because inherent existence is itself quiescent. This inherent dharma-nature is not only recognized by Master Āryadeva, but can also make other opponents accept this view. Therefore, this inherent nature is also established as valid for both oneself and others at the end of the debate. This statement needs to be understood in particular. If one wants to be like those who claim that the nature of fire, etc., is heat, etc., that is not possible in any case, because heat, etc., are dependently arisen, therefore conditioned, and are existences that arise depending on causes and conditions. Eyes, etc., are not inherently unconditioned, nor are they independent of other causes and conditions. It is also unreasonable to say so, because the word "to this" indicates that there is no entity to be clung to, and shows such a meaning in the conventional truth. This is the translation of Tsa-ba Lotsawa. The translation of Nak-tsho Lotsawa is: "To this, clinging in this way does not exist, and in the conventional truth, the meaning is accomplished as it is." The saying "To this, in this way" is good, and the remaining meaning is that there is no object of true clinging, and in the conventional truth, it shows such a meaning of being conditioned and dependent on others. Thus, the recognition of inherent nature shown by Master Āryadeva, as stated in the *Dharmadhātustava*: "Emptiness is the sutra that proclaims, all that the Victorious Ones have spoken, all of them can pacify afflictions, this realm will not be harmed." It means that the sutras that proclaim emptiness destroy the target of the afflictions of true clinging, but it is not because the target is blocked that emptiness shows the harm of the Tathāgatagarbha, that is, it does not show non-existence. This statement should also be understood.

Therefore, saying that eyes, etc., are empty of eyes, etc., this clarifies that eyes, etc., are empty because they are not established by their own nature. However, the Sravaka school believes that the eye is empty of the agent of action within the eye; the Mind-Only school believes that the eye is empty only because of the difference between the apprehended and the apprehender. Like this, eyes, etc., are not established by their own essence, but it is not like believing in the emptiness of one thing lacking another on something that is not empty. Secondly, the six objects, such as form, which are not included by the continuum, are considered to be external emptiness because they are empty of being established by their own nature. External form is empty because it is established by the nature of form, because the nature of that form is that. Sound, smell, taste, tactile objects, and dharmas should also be understood in the same way as emptiness. For these and the remaining ones, it is said in the sutra, "Because it is not utterly existent, nor is it destroyed," this should be understood as explained earlier in the chapter on internal emptiness. Like the body, which is the basis of the senses and is included by the stream of consciousness, it is included by the stream of consciousness but not included by the senses, so it is both internal and external. Its nature of not being established by its own essence is external-internal emptiness, and the rest is as before. The nature of internal and external dharmas, as explained earlier, which is not established by its own nature, is what the wise call self-nature emptiness. The self-nature emptiness of internal and external dharmas is also considered to be established by the nature of emptiness, or to be empty of truth. In this way, the emptiness called the basis of emptiness is considered to be emptiness itself. Saying that emptiness is empty of truth is to dispel the belief in truth of those beings who believe that emptiness or dharmata is a real thing, and therefore it is said in the Mother of the Conquerors Sutra. As it is said in the Praise of the Transcendent: To eliminate all conceptual thoughts, You revealed the nectar of emptiness, Whoever clings to it, You severely rebuke. These indicate that some people think that ultimate truth is truly existent.
