Refutation should be carried out, and what was previously stated should be understood as merely symbolic. The necessity of refutation and establishment in the treatise "Fundamental Wisdom" is to dispel the conceptual thoughts of clinging to reality, which is what we intend to express. Because we have already explained in the chapters such as "Beings are bound by conceptualization." How can there be a thorough refutation of the treatise? Thorough refutation is because of the fear that one's own view will have errors, so one thoroughly refutes the views of others. Here, the views of others that I refute do not exist in the ultimate truth either, because nothing exists in the ultimate truth. Therefore, how can there be a thorough refutation? Because if one considers one's own unestablished view and the characteristic of refuting the views of others as the ultimate truth, this will become the true characteristic of a thorough refuter. Which Madhyamika would establish their own view in conventional truth, and would not consider refuting the views of others as the ultimate truth? Since neither exists, the Madhyamika will not have a thorough refutation either, so it is unreasonable in any case. Thus, thus, the remainder of the refutation previously stated should be understood through this very view that was just stated. Starting from "Is it born from that or not born from that?" up to "The discerning one will quickly be liberated," it clarifies the selflessness of phenomena. From "All afflictions and faults arise from the view of the aggregates," etc., up to here, it clarifies the selflessness of persons. The third part is divided into two points: briefly explaining the categories of emptiness, and explaining the meaning of each category in detail. The first point is: wanting to explain the categories of emptiness, so it says: This selflessness of phenomena, which are without inherent existence, the Bhagavan has proclaimed as two

It has been separated. Why are these two taught? The selflessness of the individual is taught in order to liberate the Hearers and Solitary Realizers from samsara. In order to liberate the Bodhisattva beings by attaining omniscience, both selflessnesses are taught. As previously explained, Hearers and Solitary Realizers also see the suchness of just this dependent origination. However, they do not fully cultivate the selflessness of phenomena in terms of categories and time, as previously explained. However, they do have a method for abandoning the seeds of the three realms' afflictions. For them, it is established that there is the cultivation of the complete selflessness of the individual, that is, the selflessness of the individual who is established by nature. Although they do not generate the wisdom of limitless reasoning that prevents the true establishment of the individual, they do have the complete cultivation of the antidote to the seeds of affliction, but they do not have the complete cultivation of the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge. Thus, the Blessed One, for those who are to be tamed, in accordance with their various thoughts, explained these two selflessnesses in detail with many elaborations. For example, in the Mother Sutra, the sixteen divisions of emptiness are explained, and then again they are briefly summarized into four, and these are also accepted in the Great Vehicle, that is what is said. In that case, there are two brief divisions, four medium divisions, and sixteen extensive divisions. As it is said: Subhuti, furthermore, this Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva is like this, namely, inner emptiness, outer emptiness, inner-outer emptiness, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, conditioned emptiness, unconditioned emptiness, emptiness beyond extremes, emptiness without beginning or end, emptiness without abandonment, self-nature emptiness, emptiness of all dharmas, self-characteristic emptiness, unobtainable emptiness, emptiness of the nature of non-things. Having taught the sixteen emptinesses in this way, Subhuti, furthermore, things are empty by things. Non-things are
