If the opponent argues that the previous refutation of arising from self and other individually does not harm us. If so, not only is arising from each individually unreasonable, but also arising from the aggregation of both self and other is not reasonable. Because the faults previously stated regarding individual arising will also befall the side of arising from both. If Maitreya, conditioned by life, considers arising from self, then refute it with the previously stated meaninglessness of arising, etc. If, conditioned by parents, etc., one considers arising from other, then refute it with being too extreme, etc. Just as it was said above that arising from self and other is unreasonable in both conventional and ultimate truth, here too, in order to conclude that arising from both is impossible, it is said that arising from both self and other does not exist in the world, nor is it accepted in ultimate truth. Because arising from self and other individually cannot be established, arising from both is also unreasonable. Fourth, here the heretics who speak of arising from nature are: If arising is from a cause, then relative to the result, it will become arising from self, other, or both, and thus will become those faults. But I have not admitted arising from a cause, so there are no faults stated for these three situations. For example, the roughness and softness of the lotus stem and its petals are not seen to be made by anyone. The various colors and shapes of its petals, stamens, and lotus heart are also not seen to be made by anyone. Similarly, jackfruit, Nepali apples, and various other things are also like that. Just as with external objects, with internal self-natured beings such as peacocks, partridges, and francolins, no one is seen to be diligently grasping and arranging colors and shapes, etc. Therefore, the arising of things is only from nature. To this it should be refuted: If one considers that things arise only without a cause, then at that time all things, that is, all things, will arise from things that are not their own cause, because all are not causes and are the same. Also, mangoes, etc.

另一个过失是,如果众生是空无原因的,即无因而生,那么这些众生就会像虚空中乌 উৎপala(藏文:ཨུདྤ་ལ་,梵文天城体:उत्पल,梵文罗马拟音:utpala,汉语字面意思:青莲花)的香味和颜色一样,无法把握。

Maturation depends on the seasons, and some manifestations are also like that, because they are always present in those things. Because they do not depend on the seasons. Similarly, crows would have peacock feathers, and peacocks would have parrot feathers even in the womb. Because they do not depend on causes, saying so contradicts reason and contradicts what is seen. In order to produce fruits such as rice stalks, worldly people collect seeds and so on through hundreds of thousands of hardships. If even sowing is not done, how can they be produced? Therefore, production is not born from self-nature. Another fault is that if beings arise without cause, that is, without a cause, then these beings would be as imperceptible as the fragrance and color of a Sanskrit Roman transliteration: utpala, literal Chinese meaning: blue lotus) in the sky. Therefore, holding the extremely radiant world, know that all worlds arise only from their own causes, just as one's own blue consciousness arises from blue. The Lokayata (materialists) believe that there are four elements, namely earth, water, fire, and wind, which are the causes of all kinds of beings. Moreover, from the distinctions of those fully matured elements, such as lotuses, cotton, apples, and so on, and the various manifestations of peacocks, swans, and so on, it is not only reasonable but also the wisdom that can completely determine the reality of things, which also arises from that. Just as the special mixed changes that occur in wine produce the intoxicating power that causes beings to become drunk and faint, from the special complete maturation of the great elements such as stickiness, consciousness arises, and it changes to the extent that it can completely determine all things. Therefore, external and internal things arise only from the causes of this world. They think that there are no other worlds at all, where the ripening of actions done in one place matures here, or the ripening of actions done here matures in another world. How beautiful!
