The aspects of consciousness are deep and subtle, all seeds flow like a stream of water. It is not proper to grasp at self, I have not shown this to children. And so on, as it is said in the commentary. Regarding this, that sutra distinguishes between the absence of the self-nature of the completely imputed and the presence of the self-nature of the other-powered. Like the completely imputed as two selves, and the establishment of entities and differences in phenomena as being established by their own nature, according to that system, it is impossible for the knowable, but many completely imputed establishments of entities and differences are real. In that sutra, it is said that both the other-powered and the thoroughly established are established by their own nature, but the commentary only mentions the other-powered, because the main basis for the debate between Madhyamaka and Chittamatra about whether or not there is true existence is the other-powered, because the basis for the imputation of the completely imputed is also the other-powered, and the thoroughly established must also be established in dependence on the other-powered. Thus distinguishing, this system also explains it as provisional meaning. Also, in that sutra, the alaya-consciousness, which is different in entity from the six entering consciousnesses mentioned in the eight aggregates of consciousness with "consciousness of taking," etc., is also explained here as provisional meaning. If there is no alaya-consciousness, then the afflicted mind cannot be established. Included by the word "etc.," in that sutra, there are two things: the refutation of external objects and the ultimate explanation of the three vehicles. Here, there are four places that need to be explained as provisional meaning. If you do not have a definite understanding of these, then in general, the uncommon key points of Madhyamaka and Chittamatra, and in particular, this system, will appear because you do not understand them, so it is explained in detail how to distinguish between definitive and provisional meanings. From the Interpretive Sutra, which words show that external objects do not exist? In the Compendium of Vehicles, it says: "Lord, do you think that the image of the object of concentration is different from it or not different?" The Lord replied: "Maitreya, it should be said that it is not different. Why is that? Because consciousness is distinguished only by the object of perception." Thus, these are the quoted contents. This system explains all four of the points mentioned earlier as definitive meaning, while some of them are provisional meaning and some are definitive meaning.

Some do not explain according to the definitive meaning. Regarding this, the reason for saying that there are three ultimate vehicles is that the Noble One, considering that the establishment of the one ultimate vehicle can be understood from the Sutra Collected from All, did not mention it in the Commentary on Entering. To clearly explain with scripture that there is no inherently established Mind-Only apart from the three mentioned above, so it is provisional, the Lankavatara Sutra says: "Just as a doctor gives medicine to sick patients, Buddhas likewise speak of Mind-Only to sentient beings." This means that giving medicine to individual patients is not at the doctor's discretion, but must be in accordance with the patient's condition. Similarly, speaking of Mind-Only is not at the Teacher's own discretion, but according to the thoughts of those to be tamed, so the previous scripture is understood as provisional. In the commentary at the end of "Just as a doctor," from "Thus the Blessed One's sutra says" to "Enlightenment is manifested in this way," the quotations from the Lankavatara are scriptures that show that the alaya is provisionally accepted as definitive meaning by reasoning. Here, the explanation says that saying the essence of permanence is provisional, and similarly, saying Mind-Only is also showing it to be provisional, which is a false statement, because the explanation clearly explains the meaning of saying Mind-Only is provisional. Therefore, just as "Just as a doctor" and so on say that speaking of Mind-Only is provisional, saying the essence of permanence is provisional also proves that the alaya consciousness mentioned in the Intentional Commentary and others is not literal. For this, it is first necessary to know that the essence taught is not literal. The Lankavatara says: "The sutras are taught according to the thoughts of sentient beings, which is a reversal of meaning, not the only word. For example, a mirage is not water, but deceives deer who are attached to water. Similarly, the taught Dharma only pleases children, but is not a word that delights the wisdom of the noble ones. Therefore, you should follow the meaning and not be attached to words." and
