As it is said, one must train in combining the two accumulations. It is not enough to be satisfied with just one aspect of method or wisdom, and one should not rely on mere one-pointedness of mind without any special method or wisdom. If one does not grasp the boundary of what is to be refuted by the reasoning that examines suchness, one will see that everything is negated. Because one mistakes all conceptual thoughts as grasping at truth, one will transfer all the establishment of conventions to mere other-poweredness. In the case of the result, those who believe that there is nothing other than the mere suchness dharmakaya empty of wisdom, and that the form body is included in the mindstream of those to be tamed, for them, all that is established by scripture and reason, such as the fact that hearers and solitary realizers are born from the Powerful One (Shakyamuni Buddha), and that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are born from the Bodhisattvas, will become not the way of entering the Middle Way. The practice of the three dharmas will also become not the way of the Bodhisattva Madhyamikas, but merely established as other-poweredness. Thus, they slander all the paths that must be practiced from one's own side, and say that sentient beings who are empty of inherent existence wander in samsara with water buckets and the six commonalities, all of which become pure contradictions. Therefore, it should be known that they have embarked on the path of distorting the meaning of the scriptures, starting from the praise in the Introduction to the Middle Way. Regarding the ways of learning generosity and so on, which are taught in the context of the bhumis of the noble ones, one should also know that even from the ground of ordinary beings, there are many practices that must be practiced, and one should strive to practice them from now on. The third (division) has three parts: the common characteristics of the ten bhumis, the characteristics of each bhumi, and the explanation of the qualities of the ten bhumis. The first (division): Here, the explanation of the eleven bhumis, such as the Joyful One, is based on what is said in the Ratnavali: "Just as in the Hearer Vehicle, eight Hearer bhumis are taught, so in the Great Vehicle, there are ten Bodhisattva bhumis." It is based on the rough characteristics of the ten bhumis and one eleventh bhumi, and also relies on the Sutra of the Ten Bhumis. Among them, the explanation of the ten bodhicittas for the ten bhumis, such as the Joyful One, refers to the ultimate bodhicitta. The nature of the ten bhumis, which are established as ultimate bodhicitta, is explained in the commentary: "When the undefiled wisdom of the Bodhisattvas, the nature of which is embraced by great compassion and so on, is divided into parts, it obtains the name called bhumi.

Therefore, it becomes a place of merit. Thus, it is explained by the nature of the earth, by what it is completely possessed, the way the earth's name is obtained, and the explanation of the meaning of the words. Regarding the nature of "untainted wisdom," some, as explained in the Abhidharmakośa, interpret that which cannot increase defilements as untainted, which seems to be without understanding the unique meaning of establishing untaintedness in this system. Our own system considers that which is defiled by the ignorance of clinging to reality and its habitual tendencies as tainted, and the wisdom that is free from that defilement is untainted. As the Commentary says, "The wisdom of those who are free from the darkness of ignorance does not depend on the nature of the untainted realm." Thus it is proclaimed. Moreover, until the attainment of Buddhahood, the consciousness that is not defiled by the habitual tendencies of ignorance is none other than the non-conceptual wisdom of the meditative equipoise of the noble ones. This is also alternately established, that is, when arising from meditative equipoise, a consciousness defiled by habitual tendencies arises. Until the seventh ground, there is defilement by ignorance, but from the eighth ground onwards, and for the two, the Arhat, since the ignorance that provokes has ceased, there is no defilement by it, but there is defilement by the habitual tendencies of ignorance. Furthermore, the Commentary says that the first ground has the name "non-dual wisdom," which refers to the absence of dualistic appearance of object and subject being distant, and not to the wisdom that merely abandons the two extremes. In this teacher's text, there are many mentions of "wisdom and knowledge that are free from the darkness of ignorance," therefore, if one makes ignorance and its habitual tendencies the pervader of consciousness, and then says that when these two are exhausted, wisdom will also cease, to speak of this teacher's system in this way is a great slander, just as the non-Buddhist logicians think that when defilements are exhausted, the mind will also be exhausted. Saying that there is no wisdom in the meditative equipoise of the noble ones is similar to this. The Ratnavali also says, "Therefore, seeing in this way is liberation, by what seer will one see? In conventional terms, it is said to be the mind." That is, when asked by what kind of activity of the subject one directly sees Suchness, the answer is that in conventional terms, the mind directly sees Suchness. And the Dharmadhātustava also says, "Just as fire purifies clothing, various"
