For views, if the experience of non-dual appearance itself is taken as the object of cognition, and oneself is taken as the subject of cognition, then no matter how much is invested in this, the object of cognition and the subject of cognition will not appear as two in conceptual thought. If the function of object of cognition and subject of cognition is applied to this state, then the agent, the action, and other aspects of the act will become too confused. Therefore, the great teacher Yeshe Nyingpo considered the self-awareness of the Mind-Only school and the indivisible particle of the Hearer school to be the same in terms of existence and non-existence. For the indivisible particle, it is necessary to suppress the position of the object, but when its aspect appears, it is impossible to appear without the parts of direction. Therefore, the object of cognition, the subject of cognition, and the absence of directional parts of these two are merely imputations of philosophical tenets. Therefore, they also refuted the statement that although these two appear, they are not definite. In the Auto-commentary on the Two Truths, it says: If it is thought that even if it appears, it cannot be grasped with certainty, then there is no name for such a thing. Saying "appearance" also requires drinking oath water because there is no trust. Therefore, for appearance, the proof is merely an oath. It is said. According to the reasoning stated in the Lankavatara Sutra, self-awareness is also unreasonable, just as a sword cannot cut its own blade, and a finger cannot touch itself, so is the self-aware mind. It is said. Fourth, regarding the dependent nature and not being born from another, it has been explained before, and the self-awareness that measures it does not exist, and it has now been explained. If there is a dependent nature that is not born of itself and whose nature is not known by valid cognition, a real entity established by its own nature, then what reason is there why it should not exist? Other schools, that is, the Mind-Only school, what harm has the son of a barren woman caused you that you do not want it to exist but want it not to exist? It should be desired to exist. Just like the son of a barren woman, who transcends all elaboration, becomes the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, and is of an inexpressible nature, it should also be considered that this exists. Second, whatever becomes the cause of being examined as an object, if the dependent nature exists by its own nature, then there is some reason. However, when there is not the slightest thing established by the dependent nature, the cause of the confusion of nominal convention, that is, the depen

Nothing whatsoever becomes established as a substance. Therefore, by asserting that other-dependence is established as ultimate, they have shown that they have fallen away from the ultimate truth. Therefore, for this Mind-Only proponent, whatever is the cause of worldly conventions is not existent by its own nature. Alas, alas! According to the view of other Mind-Only proponents, since they lack the skill of wisdom that distinguishes the ultimate definitive meaning, through the door of attachment that clings to the other-dependent substance (mere consciousness) as true, without abandoning the other-dependent vase, they pour in improper analysis, like water. Because of the bad way of their own intelligence, (they say): Let the designations that are renowned in the world, which are established from the world alone, exist! Vanish! and so forth. Likewise, all those feelings and so forth that arise from external forms and external objects are all destroyed. Therefore, for this Mind-Only proponent, only decline can occur, but higher, excellent status is not attained. If the external is blocked, then vanishing and so forth will also not exist because of this reasoning. These are related to the external. This shows that they have fallen away from the conventional truth. The third point is: Therefore, in this way, the teacher perversely explains the provisional meaning as the definitive meaning. They only enter the path of a system that does not accord with the intention of the Buddha but is fabricated by their own conceptual thought. For those who have turned away from the path pioneered by the noble teacher Nagarjuna, there is no principal means of attaining peaceful nirvana. Why? Because, in this way, those who have turned away will necessarily fall away from the conventional truth and the ultimate truth itself. And, since they have fallen away from these two truths, liberation is not possible until they are abandoned. Again, why is it that liberation is not attained by falling away from the two truths? Because the non-perverted establishment of conventional truth has become the means of realizing the ultimate truth as it is, and realizing the ultimate truth as it is arises from the means previously explained. Therefore, anyone who does not know the distinction between these two truths has entered the wrong path with perverse conceptual thought. This shows the establishment of designations.
