A valid cognition that understands in a thorough way does not cognize anything, either directly or indirectly. However, like a valid cognition that measures the 'basis' as the object of knowledge, if it is not related to a valid cognition that does not deceive its own characteristic, then it will not become a valid cognition for any basis. This is the meaning to be expressed. Considering that if there is no relation to its own characteristic, then even fabricated clinging should not be a valid cognition, therefore it is declared that there is no valid cognition that measures purely non-things and the self-nature of non-things. If someone says that only obtaining the meaning after complete analysis is a valid cognition, then this excludes the case of clinging to yellow conch shells, etc., as valid cognitions, because if one thing is determined, then other things can be determined, which would be too extreme. If substances cannot be distinguished as different entities due to differences in place, time, and nature, then it would be too extreme to say that nothing is a different entity. When clinging to blue, even if it is clung to, it is not determined due to confusion, so it is determined by another valid cognition, just like a moment. When many particles of color appear to one sense consciousness, the appearance of shapes such as long ones is: the shape that exists completely in the realm of white color is, the dharma that appears in each particle of color, not the dharma of a thing that is independently established. If one does not cling to white, then its dharma will not cling to the shape of the dharma of other colors, because it is deceptive, so clinging to yellow conch shells is not a valid cognition. Obtaining the conch shell only comes from other consciousnesses like clinging to what is tangible. The action of wanting to obtain and the entering of consciousness that corresponds to the meaning indicated by the valid cognition that leads to entry are not simultaneous, and it does not matter whether it exists or not. Merely by determining the object to be measured, one can reach the ultimate goal, therefore, entering before the valid cognition of blue clinging is not the cause of obtaining another realm. Therefore, there is no difference between the two valid cognitions in terms of obtaining the decided meaning. Sixth, some people think that, just like obtaining by stepping in accordance, in the sense of obtaining, if it is thought that valid cognition is universally the obtainer of the entering realm, then if something does not obtain the entering realm, it will not become a valid cognition, which is also unreasonable. Merely indicating the entering realm completes the function of valid cognition, if it is said that way, that is correct, because the subsequent consciousness of obtaining the entering realm is not necessarily related to the result of the correct consciousness that leads to entry, because valid cognition does not universally have the nature of being related to it. Therefore, merely having the ability to obtain the entering realm

It is also acceptable. Even if it is not actually obtained by hand, it is possible to obtain meaning, so it is the only valid cognition. The ability is certain, the meaning is truly certain, and if there is no meaning, it will not appear. These have been accustomed to many times, and the things seen later are in accordance with the Dharma. This is not inference, because the object to be measured is not hidden. For example, a jewel. Similarly, if the connection with fire has been recognized and not forgotten, even if the fire is not seen, the mere sight of smoke can realize the fruit of fire, which is also direct perception, not inference. If it is said that it has not exceeded the scope of inference, then like the direct perception and habitual person at the time of obtaining meaning, because of the failure to comprehend the experience of the object, it will fall into the fault of being established as valid cognition and non-valid cognition, which is what Master Shengyou said. The habitual person has shown that if there is no meaning, it will not appear, which is determined from oneself. Inference Just as the absence of meaning necessarily determines from oneself, direct perception is not necessarily determined by it. However, appearance must be determined by its own power. In short, all valid cognitions must guide the determination of their own objects to be measured through their own power. If the object to be measured is meaningless, then the valid cognition itself will not appear. If there is doubt about this, in order to eliminate this doubt, it is sometimes necessary to rely on other valid cognitions, and sometimes it can be eliminated by oneself. Appearance is determined from oneself, and truth is determined from others. For example, determining red, and then determining the non-red part from others. Generally speaking, it is determined from oneself, and the difference is determined from others. For example, some are leaves and so on. In fact, grasping the thing with branches and leaves, it is determined to be just a tree. If you doubt whether it is a tree, then if it is not a tree, it will not appear, which is determined from other valid cognitions. Even the aspect of a tree is not entered through measurement, but through causing doubt. The difference is determined from oneself, and the general is determined from others, for example, how to become common and so on. Just as the function of a tree must also reach the ultimate of difference, the momentary blue, yellow, etc. are all universally compliant. When the direct perception of grasping blue grasps blue, even if it does not grasp the moment, the desired purpose can be achieved.
