In the context of the Supreme One refuting the assertion that names and named entities are related, if merely establishing the relationship between name and meaning, it is impossible for the named entity, free from conceptuality and non-erroneous, to be established without relying on a basis. If it is established upon either of the two bases mentioned earlier, then what meaning would these later treatises, which establish sense consciousness as free from conceptuality, have to establish that was not previously established? These examinations are merely entering into it. If, as Dharma Master believes, the signifier is established before the self-characteristic is established, then there is no valid proof, and therefore establishment is unreasonable. If it is argued that it is established by making the consciousness that manifests meaning as the subject, it is also unreasonable, because direct perception pervades freedom from conceptuality and non-erroneousness, but it does not pervade either freedom from conceptuality or non-erroneousness. Therefore, Dharma Master's view can be understood by well explaining the meaning of the commentary's words. Just like this, when saying "direct perception is free from conceptuality and non-erroneous," the meaning of the word "direct perception" is that the consciousness that manifests the non-hidden meaning, even the user has already established it, such as the basis of difference, the grasping of sound, hearing, non-erroneousness, and so on. And freedom from conceptuality and non-erroneousness is what has not been established on this basis and needs to be established, such as impermanence, and so on, which is very clear. Therefore, saying that the fault of the signifier being established before the self-characteristic is established is not understanding the previous aspect. In the two cases of establishing and subsequent saying, for the consciousness that manifests meaning as the subject to be established, and for the freedom from conceptuality and non-erroneousness as the self-characteristic to be established, it is through subsequently saying the self-characteristic that the subject, that is, the signifier, is made manifest. And for the case where it and the self-characteristic were not previously established, the self-characteristic is established. Its example is "for example." The meaning of this example also very clearly shows that it is not considered to be name and named. Refuting other schools, is "name" and so on. Just like Master Shantarakshita, if asked what is the meaning of this name, or what is the name of this meaning, answering that it is to make the name and meaning related is also inappropriate, because in general, this is in the context of refuting the number of valid cognitions, especially refuting direct perception, conceptuality, and error, reversal. There is pervasion, because names and named entities are related.

Because the namer is not yet established when establishing the name. There is also no need, because the illusion that needs to be eliminated in the definition has not been eliminated. Even if, according to one's own intention, the meaning of the previously spoken sound of manifestation is taken as a special basis, and the definition is established on this basis, and it is named "establishing the connection between name and namer," it is still because the illusion of the meaning of intention is not eliminated. Even if the other party gives this reasonable object another name, non-discrimination and non-confusion are not the meaning of the sound of manifestation. The wisdom that makes the meaning manifest is itself the object of expression of the sound of manifestation, which is the characteristic of the former. For example, sound through the ear. Just like this example, the four, such as the wisdom of manifestation, are known and established as the meaning of the sound of manifestation, and then the characteristics of non-discrimination and non-confusion are stated, rather than establishing the connection between the previously non-existent name and namer. In any case, if it is thought that after the wisdom of making the meaning manifest has been established, and the definition has been established, it is then named to establish the expressed manifestation, that is also based on the reversed meaning. Because even if one grasps the meaning of the sound of manifestation and the language of establishing the definition, one has not seen such a situation. It is also unreasonable from an intellectual point of view. On the other hand, are these characteristics of non-discrimination and non-confusion established in the wisdom that makes the meaning of manifestation manifest, or are they established without a basis? The latter is impossible. If it is the former, then what meaning does this language want to establish that was not previously established? Therefore, like us, this reasonable brief explanation of the language, through the later detailed explanation of the words to express rationality, this establishment and subsequent explanation of the way is reasonable. Explaining the necessity of approaching the definition, here too. In general, a definition has two functions: to eliminate different kinds and to eliminate illusions. But the explicit mention of two definitions is not for distinguishing different kinds, but for eliminating illusions. If viewed from the perspective of eliminating different kinds, then non-validity has already been eliminated by being established as correct wisdom. If this is taken as the basis, then what is to be eliminated by mentioning non-discrimination is inference, and what is to be eliminated by mentioning non-confusion is...
