If it is asserted that obtaining it would make it a non-valid cognition because grossness and subtlety are contradictory, then it is easy to understand that these arguments are also dissimilar. Thus, when only the own-character is taken as the object to be measured, what is the nature of the manifest realization that is newly realized through taking its own unique entity as the object to be grasped, and what is the nature of the manifest realization that is newly realized through taking the universal character as the object to be grasped? What is the meaning of saying that the object to be measured is twofold? And how is it that the pervasion of the root sign is established by establishing the property of the concordant side as definitely two objects to be measured? If the object's own-character is a field that is permissible, then it arises when near and ceases when not near. From the power of the function of the object to be grasped, the new realization of the object to be measured through the ways of following and reversing is called direct perception. And in relation to that object, the grasping is called independent. Other than that, the meaning that must be realized through the universal character that is beyond the object to be grasped by sense consciousness is called the object to be measured, the hidden. And that which newly realizes it is called inferential valid cognition. Then, for whomever something has become manifest, it has not become hidden. And for whomever something has become hidden, it has not become manifest. Because it is established in relation to the state of the perceiver, it is only contradictory. If it is not like that, but in relation to each state, then for the viewer, what was previously hidden will later become manifest. Therefore, the characteristics of manifest and hidden will become confused. Therefore, for whatever thing is manifest, because it is admitted that it appears as a unique entity, other than that is the nature of the universal. If conceptual consciousness also takes the own-character as the object to be grasped, then it will become manifest, and therefore manifest and hidden will not be contradictory. If the own-character is taken as the object to be grasped, but it is not realized through the sense faculty that has form, then it will not become manifest. If you say that, then when sense consciousness grasps a non-hidden object, there is nothing more than grasping by taking the own-character as the object to be grasped. Therefore, for what reason does it not become manifest because it is not realized through the sense faculty that has form? If that is the case, then happiness and so on would also be non-manifest. Realized through the sense faculty that has form.

Because there is not, that is, because it is directly realized by grasping the characteristics of its own nature, if realization also takes self-character as the object to be grasped, then the eye faculty will become meaningless when looking at form, this fault, not because what is said is not a real thing, but other faults. If grasping is the same by taking self-character as the object to be grasped, then the difference between clear and unclear is also unreasonable, so it is unreasonable to say that the root becomes fruitful by the appearance of the light of form. Therefore, all discriminations are illusions arising from the habits left by experiencing things. The meaning to be realized by taking the general characteristic as the object to be grasped is hidden, because it must be realized from the basis of realizing it, that is, the other three-character cause. For example, from the cause of smoke, only general fire can be realized, but the differences produced by grass, etc. cannot be realized, if inference takes self-character as the object to be grasped, then all differences must be realized. The summary of these meanings is: from the present hidden, etc. The rebuttal to this is: if it is not a real thing, then it cannot be measurable, such as the afterlife. The general characteristic is also not a real thing. In this way, since it is established that general characteristics, etc. are not measurable, then is only direct perception a measure? Those with discrimination who have the idea of what things can produce benefit and harm should examine that the measurable is only self-character, and we also think so. It is only established as two kinds of measurable from the way of realization. If there is no measure to determine non-existence, then this reason cannot be determined by your own measure, so it cannot make others produce understanding, if it is established by measure, then it itself cannot determine the pervasiveness of the root reason, so only the second measure can be established. If there is no measure to determine non-existence, then this reason cannot be determined by your own measure, so it cannot make others produce understanding, if it is established by measure, then it itself cannot determine the pervasiveness of the root reason, so only the second measure can be established. If only root direct perception can establish that general characteristics and the afterlife do not exist, and that there are no special people, etc., then is there no second measure? After directly realizing the object of refutation, refute the root direct perception with negative refutation.
