Therefore, ignorance must be abandoned. With the abandonment of ignorance, actions cease. Similarly, with the cessation of the preceding limbs such as actions, the subsequent limbs will not manifest. These sequences, the yogi's aggregates of suffering, empty of inherent existence of self and what belongs to self, and the singular state unmixed with happiness, will no longer arise, and thus will be truly extinguished, that is, cease. The reason why, in all other treatises, the inherent existence of phenomena is refuted by reasoning, but not refuted in this treatise, is that when the inherent existence of the dependent arising of persons and phenomena is refuted, it has already been explained that all these limbs are without inherent existence. Here, if one meditates on such a determined reality, ignorance will cease, and by its power, all the remaining limbs of existence will cease, and liberation will be attained. If such a view is not found, ignorance will not cease, and by its power, the subsequent limbs will arise, and therefore it is taught that the wheel of cyclic existence turns. Secondly, after determining how the two ignorances that grasp at a self by focusing on the dependent arising of persons and phenomena grasp at the two selves, and how the co-emergent ignorance grasps, all the reasons that have been explained are understood as limbs for refuting the two selves grasped by those two, and for generating the view of the two selflessnesses that are their antidotes. After thoroughly purifying the view of realizing the two selflessnesses, one should strive with hearing, thinking, and meditation in whatever way possible towards the direction of reversing dependent arising. The treatise called "Examining the Twelve Limbs of Existence" is the explanation of twenty-six kinds of distinctions, which is the nature of twelve verses. Thirdly, if one understands dependent arising, then wrong views can be reversed, there are three: explaining the text of the treatise, combining it with definitive meaning scriptures, and summarizing the meaning and indicating the name. First, in the Rice Seedling Sutra it says: "Whoever truly sees such dependent arising, does not rely on the prior extreme, nor does he rely on the posterior extreme." Then, what are the prior and posterior extremes?

Then, how is it that one does not rely on it? The explanation of this is in two parts: first, identifying the sixteen wrong views, and second, understanding dependent origination, thereby not dwelling on those views. The first part is: What, did I exist in the past or did I not exist, and both exist and not exist, and neither exist nor not exist, these four views; and including the view that the world is permanent, etc., the four views that the world is impermanent, both permanent and impermanent, and neither permanent nor impermanent, these eight views are all: relative to the present body, the past body is called "previous," the end is the earlier part that is transmitted from one life to another, and relying on it is the meaning of the object of focus. The view that both existence and non-existence are, and both permanence and impermanence are, is like the naked ascetics who believe that the life of the past and future is one, and the aggregates are different. The view that neither is, is like the previous one, explained from different perspectives as neither being both, and many people revere, believing that it is impossible to say whether the person is permanent or impermanent, to which, there is also the determination and prohibition by the end of the son and examination. One should understand the two ways of the end of the future that they rely on. Here, mentioning existence and non-existence is representative of the other two views, while the four views of existence, etc., are only focused on the self, and the four views that the world is permanent, etc., generally arise from focusing on the previous end, so there is a difference. Will I exist or not exist in the future, these two are just representative. Therefore, the four views that I exist or do not exist in the future, both exist and not exist, and neither exist nor not exist; and including the view that the world has an end, etc., the four views that the world has no end, both has an end and has no end, and neither has an end nor has no end, these are all relative to the present self, the future body is called "later," the later part that is transmitted from one life to another is its end, and focusing on it is relying on it. The difference between these two sets of four views is also the same as before. The second part is divided into two parts: first, on the conventional level, through dependent origination like an image, denying dwelling on those views; second, on the ultimate level, through the pacification of all elaboration, denying dwelling on those views. The first part is divided into four parts: the previous end
