It is not the control of the five aggregates of consciousness. Second, just as nirvana is not grasped by speculations like the four speculations. When the Blessed One, who has attained nirvana, passes into nirvana, self-nature does not appear to exist, it is ungraspable. Similarly, the dharma of nirvana does not exist, nor is it established by self-nature. Because these two do not exist, existence and non-existence both exist together, and both do not exist together. The nature of neither existence nor non-existence, self-nature exists, does not appear, and is ungraspable. Furthermore, even when the Blessed One was alive, self-nature did not appear to exist, similarly, it does not exist, or existence and non-existence both exist together, or neither of the two, self-nature exists, does not appear, this has already explained the examination of the Tathagata. Third, divided into two: establishing the equality of samsara and nirvana, and establishing the refutation of the unrecordable views. First, there is no difference between the Teacher's lifetime and the time of passing into nirvana, whether they are separated from the four extremes or not, therefore, there is no difference between samsara and nirvana, and between nirvana and samsara, whether they are true or false. If analyzed with reason as before, because the self-nature of emptiness is completely the same. Therefore, monks, the cycle of birth and death has no beginning and no end, saying this is also in accordance with this principle. Because the self-nature of the initial cycle and the later nirvana are the same. In this way, the way in which the true limit of nirvana is empty, is the way in which the true limit of samsara is empty. There is no difference between the two. Second, since there is no difference in the self-nature of samsara and nirvana, not only can one not speculate in advance on the later limits, but also those who think that the Tathagata exists, does not exist, both, and the nature of neither of the two, self-nature exists, after passing into nirvana or passing away, these views are based on nirvana and tend to be attached to it. The world has an end, and so on.

Those views that are encompassed by... and regard (things) as having intrinsic existence, with their nature being finite and infinite, both finite and infinite, and neither finite nor infinite, arise based on the later extreme. That is, regarding oneself and the world, if one does not see future births, one considers it finite; if one sees births, one considers it infinite; if one sees some (situations) and does not see others, one considers it both finite and infinite; by negating both, one generates the speculation of neither finite nor infinite. Those views that are encompassed by the world being permanent, etc., and regard (things) as having intrinsic existence, with their nature being the world being impermanent, both permanent and impermanent, and neither permanent nor impermanent, arise based on the former extreme. That is, regarding oneself and the world, if one sees births and does not see births in past times, and sees some parts and does not see other parts, and by negating both, one generates speculations of permanence, etc. If these views were valid in the case of things having intrinsic existence, but all things are empty because they are empty in nature. Therefore, regarding (things) as finite, infinite, both finite and infinite, and neither finite nor infinite, and saying that the body and life are the same, or that the body and life are different, and regarding (things) as permanent, impermanent, both permanent and impermanent, and neither permanent nor impermanent, what meaning is there in being grasped by such views? There is no meaning at all. If one fabricates an intrinsically existent self for things, and then generates these views from the perspective of being separate or not separate from it, and clings to them, know that this obstructs the path to the city of liberation and binds one to the suffering of samsara. The fourth question is: If you deny that nirvana has intrinsic existence, then wouldn't the teachings of the teacher, which are antidotes to afflictions and accord with them, be meaningless for the sake of sentient beings attaining nirvana? If the dharma being taught, the listener, and the teacher all had intrinsic existence, that might be the case. However, when the Tathagata Bhagavan, like the king of swans, abides in the sky by flapping his wings in the wind, or like the wind abiding in the sky, when all elaborations are completely pacified and he abides in the nature of peace without abiding in signs, at that time, the grasping at signs
