Third, explaining the conventional truth and the ultimate truth, and showing the definite number of the two truths. The first part has three points: explaining the meaning of the words conventional and truth, the definition of conventional truth, and the classification of conventional. The first point is: So, what is conventional, and what is truth? In this regard, the conventional in front of which the forms and other phenomena are established as truth is: the ignorance that falsely assumes that phenomena have an inherent nature, even though they do not. Because things cannot be truly established, the establishment as truth is in the mind. Because it is impossible to establish as truth in the mind that is not grasping at reality. As it is said in the "Entering the Middle Way": Conventional is so called because it obscures reality, by its nature of ignorance. Whatever is fabricated by it appears as true, that is conventional. The Buddha has said that such conventional reality is a fabrication. Here, in the commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way," it says: Thus, for the time being, the conventional truth is established by the power of the afflicted ignorance, which is completely included by the limb of existence. Furthermore, for the hearers, solitary realizers, and bodhisattvas who have abandoned the afflicted ignorance, it is a false nature, like observing actions, images, and so on, as existing. It is not truth, because there is no arrogance of appearing as true. For children, it is deception, but for others, it becomes merely conventional by the very nature of dependent arising, like illusions and so on. As it is said, those who establish the existence of conventional truth establish it as existing through ignorance, and it is not meant to show that the conventional truth is not established in the presence of hearers, solitary realizers, and bodhisattvas who have abandoned the afflicted ignorance. The first reason for this is as previously stated, because afflicted ignorance is grasping at reality, so the object it grasps cannot exist even in name. And, if it is conventional truth, it is necessarily present in name. Therefore, if the conventional of the place of establishment where phenomena are established as conventionally existing, then it must not be considered as afflicted ignorance. The second reason is

For those who have abandoned the conventional obscurations of ignorance with afflictions, by the reason of not having the conventional of clinging to truth that establishes as true in any realm, the formations are proven to be untrue in those realms, but it is not proven that they are not conventional truths. Therefore, in those realms, the formations are said to be merely conventional, and in those realms, because among the two, conventional and true, there is no way to establish as true, the word "merely" cuts off the truth, how could it cut off the conventional truth? In this way, the truthfulness of the conventional truth is only in the realm of the conventional of ignorance. Therefore, in the writings of Chandrakirti, it is said: "Because it is true conventionally, it is a conventional truth." Saying this does not mean that in the realm of the conventional of ignorance, for truth, it is established as true in name, otherwise, because it contradicts the principle that it is impossible to be established by its own nature even in name, and if in name, the negation of true establishment and the establishment of non-truth are done, then it is unreasonable to establish as true in name, and if it is not done, then it is not possible to do it in the ultimate sense, therefore these distinctions will not be possible. Then, if the nature of phenomena and the self are true in the realm of the conventional of clinging to truth, will they become conventional truths? If in the realm of the conventional of clinging to truth, merely being true is established as conventional truth, then it would become like that, but it is not said like that, because the true place of the conventional truth is only explaining which conventional is true in which conventional realm, and the reason for being true in that realm. Second, each of these external and internal objects has two aspects, ultimate and conventional, that is, taking a sprout as an example, the nature of the sprout obtained by the discriminating wisdom that sees the meaning of the only true knowable, and the nature of the sprout obtained by the nominal consciousness that measures the meaning of deceiving the false knowable. The former is the nature of the ultimate truth of the sprout, and the latter is the nature of the conventional truth of the sprout. As it is said in the Entering the Middle Way: "By seeing the true and the false, one will grasp the two natures of things. What is seen as true is that nature, what is seen as false is said to be the conventional truth." This means:
