No. Fourth, if someone says that the nature of afflictions exists because the nature of their six objects exists. To this, the form that can be seen, the sound that can be heard and proclaimed, the taste that can be tasted, the smell that can be smelled, the touch that can be touched, and the dharma that holds the characteristics or holds the supreme nirvana of all dharmas, these six aspects reside here, are the basis, are the objects. Why? Because what makes the mind happy is attachment, what makes the mind unhappy is aversion, and what makes the mind ignorant is the basis of ignorance. Because attachment arises from clinging to them as lovely aspects, aversion arises from clinging to them as unlovely aspects, and ignorance arises from clinging to them as permanent, self, and so on. It is true that you establish these as the basis of afflictions, but form, sound, taste, touch, smell, and dharma are merely imputed, and there is no self-nature established. If self-nature does not exist, then how does this object exist? Although self-nature does not exist, the object is like a city of gandharvas, a mirage, and a dream. Fifth, it is divided into two parts: refuting that the cause of attachment and aversion is established by self-nature, and refuting that the cause of ignorance is established by self-nature. The first part: when they are like a city of gandharvas, etc., and there is no self-nature from inversion, and it is only an object. The six realms are like an illusionary person and an image, and for them, the nature of lovely and unlovely aspects exists, how can it happen? It will not happen, because it is produced by the inverted basis. As it is said: 'The aggregates arise from the clinging to self, the clinging to self is false in meaning, whose seed is false, how can its birth be true?' These are the inverted basis, therefore it is the reasoning that shows the aspects of lovely and unlovely to be false. Now, the reason for mutual dependence will also be used to show its falsity: here, lovely and unlovely are like long and short, they exist in mutual dependence, and they do not exist without dependence. Therefore, what does unpleasantness depend on, that is, what is it dependent on to be established as pleasant?

The object of dependence, unpleasantness, if it does not exist without depending on pleasantness, therefore, it is not reasonable for the realm of pleasantness to exist by its own nature. If the realm of unpleasantness depends on pleasantness, then it does not exist by its own nature, and if the object of dependence does not exist by its own nature, then it is contradictory for the dependent dharma to exist by its own nature. The realm of pleasantness depends on what, that is, the object of dependence, pleasantness, which is relied upon and established as unpleasant, if it does not exist without depending on unpleasantness, therefore, it is not reasonable for unpleasantness to exist by its own nature. Thus, if the characteristic of pleasantness does not exist by its own nature, then the attachment that is merely its cause will become pure. If the characteristic of unpleasantness does not exist by its own nature, then how can the hatred that is its cause exist, because there is no cause. Second, there are four: refuting the establishment of inversion by its own nature; refuting the establishment of possessing inversion by its own nature; examining the existence or non-existence of the object of inversion and refuting it; thus, showing that refuting is of great significance. First, there are three: refuting the establishment of the inversion of clinging to permanence by its own nature; refuting the establishment of clinging to impermanence as non-inversion by its own nature; refuting the establishment of mere clinging by its own nature. The first is: here there are four inversions, namely, the five aggregates are destroyed moment by moment and are impermanent, but one thinks they are permanent; the aggregates of appropriation are suffering, but one thinks they are happiness; the body is impure, but one clings to it as pure; the aggregates do not conform to the nature of self, but one clings to them as self. These four are the cause of ignorance. Among them, clinging to self is of the same kind as ignorance, the former acts as the cause of the latter, and the other three also become co-emergent conditions. If it is said that the aggregates are empty of permanence and are impermanent, but one clings to them as permanent, thus establishing it as inversion. If the aggregates are empty of existence by their own nature, then impermanence does not exist by its own nature, so how can clinging to the aggregates as permanent be established as inversion by its own nature? It is not. Similarly, the remaining three are also inferred. If it is said that suffering is happiness, thus clinging is inversion, suffering does not exist in emptiness, so how can clinging be inversion? In this way. Great Commentary.
