Having completely passed away into peace, and because there is no birth by nature, there is no exhaustion of the transformation of nature. Those who engage in elaboration with distorted discriminations such as permanence and impermanence as previously explained, all those whose eyes of wisdom have become dim will not see the Suchness of the Tathagata, just like a blind person cannot see the sun. Therefore, it is said in the Three Hundred Verses: 'Those who see me in form, those who know me by sound, those people have entered onto the wrong path, those people cannot see the Tathagata. The Buddhas view the nature of reality, the guides are the body of Dharma, the nature of reality is not to be known, they cannot understand it.' These words mean that holding onto the elaborations of phenomena such as form and sound as true is entering into the wrong path regarding the Suchness of the Buddha and abandoning it. Therefore, they cannot see the Suchness of the Buddha, and the Suchness of the Buddha should be viewed as the nature of reality and the body of Dharma. The nature of reality is not to be known in the way it was previously grasped, because it cannot be known in that way, that is what is being shown. Because elaboration obscures the eye of wisdom, one cannot see the Suchness of the Tathagata, this is what needs to be understood, and it is implicitly shown that if the eye of wisdom is not obscured by the discriminations of elaboration, one will see it. Fourth, if one examines the Tathagata, one also examines the world of sentient beings, and just as the world of sentient beings has no self-nature, so too does the container world have no self-nature. Because whatever is the self-nature of the Tathagata is also the self-nature of this world of beings. What is the self-nature of the Tathagata? The Tathagata is designated in dependence on the aggregates, but is not established from its own essence, therefore it has no self-nature. Similarly, these beings are also designated in dependence on this and that, but in reality there is no self-nature that is completely established from itself. That beings have no essence has already been explained in the Praise of Dependent Arising, etc. Second, in this way, the Tathagata and its Dharma, the aggregates, are said to be without self-nature, and this is also established by profound scriptural authority, and all these statements will be explained by this treatise, and for the purpose of showing this, it is necessary to ascertain.

Examples illustrating the aspect of the 'na' teachings and their combination: From the Sutra of the Adornment of Wisdom Manifestation: The ever-constant, unborn dharma is the Tathagata. All dharmas are like the Sugata. Those with childish minds who grasp at signs Practice dharmas that do not exist in the world. The Tathagata, free from outflows, Is like an image of virtuous dharma. Here, there is no suchness nor Tathagata. All the world sees only the image. Also, from the Bhagavati Sutra: The noble Subhuti, are those sentient beings like illusions, or are they not illusions? When this was said, the venerable Subhuti said to those gods: Gods, those sentient beings are like illusions. Gods, those sentient beings are like dreams. Gods, thus, illusion and those sentient beings are non-dual, they cannot be made into two. Thus, dream and those sentient beings are non-dual, they cannot be made into two. Gods, all dharmas are like illusions, like dreams. Thus it was said, and the Stream-enterer and the Once-returner, the Non-returner and the Arhat, and their four fruits were also spoken of in the same way, that is, it was shown that persons and the fruits of their continuum are without inherent existence. Then, the Pratyekabuddha and the state of Pratyekabuddha, and the Fully Awakened Buddha and the state of Buddhahood were also spoken of in the same way, which shows that both the person and their dharmas are without inherent existence. Then, the noble Subhuti, is the perfectly complete Buddha also like an illusion, like a dream? Is the very state of perfectly complete Buddhahood also like an illusion, like a dream? Subhuti said: Gods, if I say that Nirvana is also like an illusion, like a dream, what need is there to mention other dharmas? The gods said: Noble Subhuti, is Nirvana also like an illusion, like a dream? Subhuti said: Gods, if I were to say that there is some dharma that is more excellent than Nirvana, that too would be like an illusion, like a dream. Thus, dream and Nirvana are non-dual, they cannot be made into two, thus it was said.
