Refutation of the inherent existence of the Tathagata. Refutation of the inherent existence of afflictions. The first part has three points: explaining the arguments of the treatise and combining them with definitive statements; summarizing the main points and indicating the names. The first point is: Here it is said that the continuity of samsara is inherently existent, because the Tathagata is inherently existent. Here, the Blessed One has accumulated vast amounts of merit for the sake of sentient beings for countless eons, or seven eons, without interruption, and became enlightened after a long time. If the continuity of samsara were not inherently existent, then the Tathagata would not exist either, because one must rely on going through many rebirths in samsara to achieve enlightenment. No matter how many kinds of light of reason are used to dispel the thick darkness of ignorance, it still cannot be reversed due to long-standing habituation. Your lack of understanding of this is very serious. This itself shows that the continuity of samsara is extremely long and will not be interrupted. If the Tathagata were inherently existent, then even if the continuity of samsara were inherently existent, it would not be inherently non-existent. This has four points: refuting that the Tathagata is established by his own nature; revealing that the wrong view of it has no place elsewhere; revealing the faults of holding wrong views; extending this reasoning to other aspects. The first part has three points: refuting that the taker is inherently established; refuting that the taken is inherently established; summarizing these two. The first part has three points: refuting that the Tathagata exists as a substance; refuting the inherent existence of what is imputed in dependence on the aggregates; summarizing these contents. The first point is: If the Tathagata exists by his own nature, then, is he inherently one with the aggregates of form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, or are they inherently different? In the realm of the Buddha, although there are also the five aggregates of discipline, concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the wisdom of liberation, the former five aggregates are considered here as the taken, while the latter five are not, because the former five are the cause of being imputed as sentient beings, and the latter five do not pervade all ordinary beings and noble ones, and are included in the former five. If they are inherently different, then for the Tathagata

The aggregates rely on and the Thus Come One relies on the aggregates, and like Devadatta having wealth, if the Thus Come One is combined with the aggregates, then all of that is not reasonable. Like this, the Thus Come One is not one with the five aggregates and his own self-nature, otherwise, just like what is said in the tenth chapter, the agent and the action would become one, and just like what is said in the eighteenth chapter, it would become something that arises and ceases with its own characteristics. If the latter is admitted, then just like what is said in the root verses and commentary of the "Entering the Middle Way", there are three faults, namely, the agent of the action is momentary, so it does not exist at the time of the result of the action, because there is no basis, so the actions are not related to the result, therefore the actions done will be in vain. If it is thought that the result of the action done by the previous moment is enjoyed by the later moments, then the fault of others enjoying the result of the action accumulated by others, and encountering those who have not done the action, will occur. Even if the previous and later moments are different, it cannot be said that there is no fault because they are the same continuum, because each moment arises with its own characteristics, cause and effect are not allowed, so the fault that the same continuum is unreasonable has been said before and will not return. Just as one does not remember "my body appeared before", one will not say "I was Lanu at that time", because the self at that time has perished like the body, and here it is admitted that another self arises from the former with its own characteristics. The Thus Come One is not different from the five aggregates by his own characteristics, otherwise, just like what is said in the tenth chapter, there would also be cases where there are no aggregates, and just like what is said in the eighteenth chapter, the aggregates would become the characteristics represented by conditioned phenomena, or become different entities from the characteristics of each aggregate. Because the Thus Come One and the aggregates are not inherently different, the Thus Come One relying on the aggregates and the aggregates relying on the Thus Come One do not exist in essence. Just like the way Devadatta has a cow and has ears, the Thus Come One being combined with the aggregates is also not inherently existent, because they are inherently different and have not been established as one in sequence. The remaining three parts and the first two
