Since there is no desire for difference, if it is established as artificial in the world, it does not accept the way of not naming it as self-nature, and it is accepted as such in its own system. Children are attached to things that have no self-nature as having self-nature, and they see that as the only dharma, and they do not see other dharmas, just like being attached to "the self-nature of fire is heat," they speak of characteristics, because they say, "One's own characteristic is one's own self-nature." For those, the teacher also, through the way of renown, establishes the self-nature of those as conventional truth in the Abhidharma, and says that impermanence and so on, which are common with other dharmas, are common characteristics. In this regard, even though heat is the nature of fire and impermanence is the nature of compounded things, it does not exist in name, but from the characteristics of whether it is common or not, it is the self-nature and the common nature that appear, as stated in the Sutra, it is the self-system that exists in name. Therefore, there is a very big difference between existing by self-nature or self-entity, and the uncommon self-nature. The commentary says: For those, the self and common characteristics are explained in the Abhidharma through the way of renown. This is to say that children think that whatever the characteristic of any dharma is, that is their nature, and without preventing those, two characteristics are explained to those, not like thinking that the heat of fire and so on is the nature, the Abhidharma also establishes the nature of those as two characteristics, because the "Entering the Middle Way" says: Those Buddhas who abandon the path of wisdom, equally abandon and speak in the Abhidharma. The commentary also says that in the Abhidharma, through the door of distinguishing self and common characteristics and so on, all five aggregates are shown equally, and the "Mother Sutra" says that all five are empty of self-nature, therefore it is said that there is no equality in ultimate truth, and there is equality in name, and it is also not desired that the heat of fire is the nature of fire, even in name. Therefore, like the heat of fire, that is not admitted by oneself, so it is not said that others admit it, but the heat of fire and the self-nature of fire are not distinguished separately, and it is grasped as one, that itself is not established here, so it is merely established as what others admit. Second, if it is said that because it is made, it is not self-nature, then the nature of self-nature

Then, what is self-nature? Here, we use the term "self-nature" to refer to one's own nature, so whatever belongs to something is said to be its self-nature. So, what belongs to something? For any thing, whatever quality is uncreated belongs to it. Whatever is created is not its own, like the warmth of water. Whatever does not depend on others is also its own, like one's own servants and one's own property. Whatever depends on others is not its own, like a temporary image without autonomy. Thus, it is not to show that all that is created and depends on things other than that thing are not the attributes of that thing, but to show that the attribute that is regarded as the self-nature or nature of that thing must not be created, nor be like a borrowed item that depends on others. Therefore, the original nature of fire, which is not created, not newly born where it did not exist before, and which will not be confused with fire at any time, and which, like the warmth of water, or this shore and the other shore, or length, does not depend on other causes and conditions, is said to be the self-nature of fire. Then, does the self-nature of fire exist in that way? The answer is that it neither exists by its own nature nor does it not exist. Although it exists, it does not exist by its own nature. As it is said in the Commentary on Entering the Middle Way: "For this, the ultimate truth is the special object of the wisdom of those who see reality, by which one obtains one's own nature, but it is not established by one's own entity." Although it does not exist by its own nature, in order to dispel the fear of the listeners, it is falsely established and said to exist in conventional truth. Because it is said to exist here for this purpose, it is unreasonable to say that the ultimate truth is not knowable. As it is said in the Collection of Righteous Dharmas: "In order to completely eliminate the fear of the world, birth and death are spoken of by the power of convention." In this way, birth and death will also become unknowable. Because it is said to be falsely established, it is also unreasonable to say that the ultimate truth is not knowable. Because it exists by false establishment.
